RACE2PLAY.COM SPONSORS SUPER CUP CAR AT 12 HOURS OF MEXICO ERIE, CO (30 Aug 2007) - Race2Play.com is excited to sponsor one of its own, Omar Gonzalez, and the Perea-Mora Racing Ford Ka for the 12 Hours of Mexico endurance race Sept. 8-9 at Autodromo Miguel E. Abed in Amozoc, Puebla. "I have been racing at Race2play.com for almost a year, and it has been a great training tool for me and many other professional drivers," Gonzalez said. "Thanks to my participation in the rF World Challenge at Race2Play, I was able to train for longer stints, which is what I needed for real life endurance racing." Gonzalez took home a championship in the rF World Challenge, a multiclass sim racing series at Race2Play with events lasting more than two hours each. He joined the Perea-Mora Racing team for the real-life 24 Hours of Mexico race in March, copiloting the car to a second-place finish after three unscheduled stops for mechanical issues cost the team the win. "We are pleased to sponsor Omar Gonzalez and the Super Cup car. Omar's been racing at Race2Play this past year and proven himself a champion already," Race2Play cofounder Tim McArthur said. "We're proud to be providing the sport and its competitors a service that's not only valued as race driver training, but as entertainment as well." Race2Play.com organizes the Official Online Racing Sanctioned by the National Auto Sport Association, and counts among its members amateur and professional drivers from the ranks of NASA, SCCA, Karting, Formula Renault, Formula 3, Champ Car and Grand Am. Race2Play programs mirror those of real-world motorsport bodies, from online High Performance Driver Training to championship points series. Gonzalez began his racing career in 1998 in the Formula 3000 International series, and took up Karting after moving to America. He began sim racing online in 2005 and joined Race2Play in January 2007. Gonzalez also is a member of the sim modding group iDT. "Thank you to Race2Play for allowing me to carry the Race2Play banner in the upcoming 12 Hours of Mexico," Gonzalez said. "I'm really looking forward to this event, and will do my best to bring that first place home."
