Well I took the easier option to building a cockpit - I bought one!
For those who don't know this is Frex's SimConMOTION.
Basically it simulates the G force exerted on the body when you drive.
There are two servos at the back of the seat which are operated by a controller which decodes the info which is generated by the Sim. Until I used this I had absolutely no idea how much physics are incorporated into Sims.
Three LCD monitors thru a Matrox TripleHead2Go give me a max 3840x1024 resolution.
I do take credit for the button box however :)
How do you get rid of the dark cockpit?
I have tried increasing the gamma through the ATI control panel but as soon as I load WTCC it just seems to ignore the desktop and is just undriveable unless I drive with the lights out.
Right this has happened to me twice now, both times driving rF3 and it's really annoying.
I go through Practice, Quali and Warm Up, then when it switches to Race I click on the race button to join the grid and a get placed in my pit box!!!!? WHY??
If I try to join down pit lane I'm DQd for going through a red light and certainly in the last race there was no red light?
Has this happened to anyone else? if so what do I do if it happens again.
I keep getting the USB Disconnect alarm.
How can I track down the offending device and then find out why it's doing it?
This is doing my head in!! and if I don't get this sorted out soon the PC is heading for a damn good thrashing!!!
I've just finished the GTC-Euro Barc
In the Series Info it says 2 mandatory pitstops are required, Which I did. But when I look at the laps of other drivers I can only see 1. Am I getting something wrong?
Also
Is it just me or do the Ignition and Starter switches have a life of their own. Is there some trick to using the damn things?
Ok my subscription for Norton Internet Security and AntiVirus is due for renewal and I have been reading an awful lot of bad press about Norton.
I obviously need some kind of protection but I dont want something that is going to hog all my resources as Norton seems to do.
So what do you guys use?
Am I wrong about Norton?
I can't get this to work and I am absolutely sure it's only something simple, can you help?
I have got Ati X1900XTX and Matrox TripleHead2Go displaying on 3 LCD monitors, so I can't use another monitor to display GTR2-PD, but I do have another PC and they are both connected to my Router.
I have had a workgroup set up between the 2 machines for awhile and regularly swap info etc between them.
But I can't get GTR2-PD to work on the second PC, it says Connecting at the top left and Scanning top centre.
Once again today (GT3 Cup Dubai) I got dumped to desktop by Norton AntiVirus (this is the third time now) starting a Full System Scan and this is with the Auto Protect turned off!
Is there something I can do about this?
Is it something that the server is causing?

The same thing is happening with a subscription reminder (that has happened once) it just pops up and throws me back to desktop and my car into the wall!
I hope someone can help me or I'll have more DNFs than starts! The alternative will be ugly and the cat has had a hard enough life as it is already!!
Ok I entered my first race tonight and everything was going fine until I got into qualy then I got disconnected. This happened twice the last time just before the race start so I couldn't get back in :(
I'm new to online so, what causes these disco's and is there anything I can check at my end to ensure it's not me that is causing them?
What is the best thing to do if you get one, if there is still time to do something about it?
I have DSL and a line test showed Downstream 2922.59 Kbps and Upstream 350 to 400 Kbps, these are typical of what I normally get.

Hi everyone I've been driving Sims for the last 22yrs, my first being REVs by Geoff Crammond :-) and all the others in between. I've raced in offline leagues but I've never raced online!
I guess I just didn't want to make a fool of myself and feel as though I was getting in peoples way.
I have a decent PC, Frex's SimConMotion with all the bells n whistles but there's still something missing - and thats all of you guys!
So Here I am but still feeling a little apprehensive and I'm hoping you guys can help. Obviously most of you have gone through the noob phase and others are going through it now.
