2nd month
Well i am back in simracing, i did arrive. I did 14 races in one month. Nice pace to start up again. Most races I drove in race07, and some in ARCA. I had good races and I had not so good ones. Mostly I remember some nice fights in Minis and 2 good races in the Camaros, at the moment my best finish is 5th. In general it is a blast to be back racing.
The more I practice, the saver I feel in racing side by side and the more I race the more I want to change the setups I use. Despite I don
When i startet simracing, way down at the end of the 80ties (Revs on C64) of the past millennia, I never thought what a great impact this would once make on my life. And I was big into this. From 2003 on till 2009 it made lots of my freetime spending (as driver, admin and so on). Then private life (the search for a new flat, moving etc.) and technical problems hit me, and after buying my flat, money was short for replacement parts for my PC but beacause mostly a certain saturation on sim racing I took a break. Left most of this behind me and went on. Following my last years “Little C” I decided not long ago to give it a go again. Beside some occasional laps around the green hell I didn’t drove much even offline. Simply I had other thoughts on my mind.
Now I am back and it feels like I never was off the board long. (Even got my first pole…). Mostly cause of Leen, my Teamboss. Since we first drove together, way back in the times I had my own team, Epix Racing Team, I think Leen joined ERT in 2005 or so…, it brought back the “Muppet Show”. Back in the times we had been mostly a band of 4 gloriouse great chaps, Leen, Jamie, Thomas and myself. Some ended racing, some still do this together. For this most gratious possiblity to come back, thanks to Leen and Andy (btw also a former ERT driver *ggg*) of Norfolk Exchange. “Let’s have fun Muppets!”
But not only I got older, also the community has changed, or say it this way, the approach to sim racing changed. It is a great achievement for race2play to offer us this platform and the servers. Mainly cause I – back then before my break - was no great fan of r2p. I thought why should I pay for such an offer, when I participate on having an own server? But now my sight has changed, because as a comebacker r2p just gave me the right stuff to start again. It limited the games I had to bring back, some of them I even bought again, without the trouble of having an own server, but then you need it for just 1-2 days a week. Time moves on, integrated services also will be a part of social networking, like Race2Play does. Kudos @ Tim and Todd.
So what is it all about this online sim racing. It’s about playing, it’s about interaction and it is about competition. Like the big real toys of motorsport we play around on our fair- and playgrounds, competing with each other and in general having a great time. In this “Muppet Show” we have drama, jokes and even sometimes some mistones.( I meen this literaly when some guys start to sing on teamspeak Manahmana…..*ggg*).
My first outing was with the Meganes and RFactor and some races with Race07 and different cars, check my stats and my history for details. First highlight was my pole at Nashville in the ARCA car in the great ARAIG League by Andy. At the moment I have seen some points I have to look on, as far as it reflects my gear, I have to get my G25 back to excellence by cleaning it and deliberate it from all the dust it picked up over the last few years. It is still a way to go on this part.
On the other part I will look forward to more racing, and in my brain some ideas are coming up, especially of bringing back some of the names I generated over the years way back and which I always was proud of. ERT at the moment is no topic, as I am very happy at Norfolk Exchange, but maybe I bring back a different name, APC…well let’s wait and see. In the meantime keep on racing, see u on track and like a great one once said: "Racing is life... everything before and after is just waiting."
