I need a new book to read and thought I would throw it out there to the Race 2 play community for your suggestions.

I’m looking for F1 reads at this time as the 2012 season has been some of the best racing in F1 in a long, long time. I guess I enjoy autobiographies.

I just finished The Limit by Michael Cannell. It’s an enjoyable read about the late 1950’s and early 60’s Forumla one era but mostly a biography of Phil Hill. Should be a movie.

Recently I read Michael Schumacher: The Edge of Greatness by James Allen and found it very painful to read but has lots of insight and behind the scenes information that was very interesting. If you like lots and lots of details, you will like it.

Another MUST read is Winning Is Not Enough: The Autobiography by Jackie Stewart. The guy is dialed in to everything. Well presented and I could’nt put it down. It also comes with a DVD.

Flat out Flat Broke Perry McCarthy, a very enjoyable and at times laugh out loud story of someone who in my opinion made it. If you’re on the grid, you’re doing it. I won’t ruin it but there are some “No Way” moments in it and I recommend it. It is much like my own motorsports journey in NASCAR.

I will not bore you with others but any suggestions?

The weather just turned awesome here in Cape Ann and I took some time on Saturday to sweep out and clean my garage. I was using some Simple Green to clean off some shelving and later on in the day used some WD 40 to lube a couple of draws of my Snap On tool box and it occurred to me “I love the smell of Simple Green and WD40”. Not two minutes later I heard the sound of a high pitch starter and the thundering roar of my neighbors Modified. Moments later the smell of Cam2 wafts over and I get a hard-on! The season is here and the smell is in the air. Dam it was nice and it got me thinking “what are the smells of the race season do others enjoy or not?” One gross smell I hate and it nearly makes me sick is the smell of burnt gear lube...UGH!

I have had 3 DNF's for engine failure in the past 4 days! three in GTR2. I was told to install Xd and I think it's great, it shows engine health. But I start races and it is already 63% or something like that, how do I start a race with 100%? And is there anything in Rfactor to tell how much is left or do I just check the engine temp and guess?

The movie is “Grown Ups”, and stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Selma Hayek, Chris Rock, David Spade and whole bunch of people. I live on a lake and they are filming in my cove. I can see the set from my property and it’s about 1000 feet away from my deck. This has been going on since April. They film Monday through Friday, not on Saturday or Sunday. It is all the stuff you would think that goes on including the cliché “Quite on the set”. Fridays are kind of cool because they film into the evening and the light show is kind of impressive, but this Friday was bizarre.

Last night was like a carnival around here. About 6:30pm I emerge from my after work shower to the “THUMP….THUMP….THUMP” sound of a helicopter over my house and my wife yelling “You got to see this!” so I proceed to bolt to the deck and there it is, and it’s not the local news channel deal, it’s bigger and has a large ball mounted under the cockpit. It’s buzzing the movie set and flying around the cove. Then it would start cruising along the cove about 20 off the water towards the set. My wife thinks it might be TMZ trying to get a look, but it is filming for the movie. This went on for an hour and a half or so and dusk started to set in.

The helicopter leaves and thinking …wow that was different, let’s get on with some food and beverage for a Friday night, it becomes evident that I can hear the low droning hum of diesel engines accompanied by the periodic sound of hydraulics and two way radios. Clearly some thing more is going on. I focus my attention in the direction of the sound and I see this billboard sized light array on a crane slowly extending above the trees in my yard, and it’s clearly coming from my neighbors drive way. He said that they were going to put some lights in his yard, but what the hell is that! So I have to go over and see what this is. As I start walking through my yard I see another one at the other neighbor’s house, not as large but still!

Tonight they are shooting a night scene at the boat house, and they lit up the cove like day light, and the contrast of the trees to the sky line was shadow free, it looked like it was painted. Groups of two or three men with generators and lights were scurrying all over this side of the lake in certain yards to set up smaller temporary lighting.

The boat house on the set.

My photos don’t do justice to this truck but they are coming back in a few weeks for another night shoot. I will get more day shots.

When I receive a new posting of information from a chapter, or Blog, it is some times 6 pages deep to get to that post. Is there a way to display the most recent post first and the oldest post last? That way I don’t have to keep paging through all the posts I have already read.
