Yep, it was Michael Virt in the LMPC race that ensured we crossed the 100,000 mile marker today. Michael, me and Boyd Bryson had taken part in the Vertigo race and fell 32 miles short (LOL)!!
Congratulations all on a great milestone (no pun intended!!).
My old workhorse was 6 years old. Same ATI 9600, just an upgrade on RAM, and I was struggling to run some games on the lowest settings.
Aussie taxman owed me big time, so when the money came through this is what I had delivered just 1 week ago:-
Samsung SH-S223C SATA DVDRW Drive
Intel Core i3 530
Gigabyte GA-H55-UD3H ATX Motherboard
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB HD103SJ
Xigmatek XLF-F1254 120mm LED Fan x3
Patriot PC3-10600 2x2GB DDR3 PSD34G1333KH
Antec Three Hundred Case
PowerColor Radeon HD5770 1GB DVI/HDMI
Corsair HX-650 Power Supply
Took me around 8 hours in total over 3 days to build it, the first time ever I've down such a thing.
Then it was that moment of firing her up and getting the Operating system up and running. Updating drivers took quite a while - super handy to have the old PC wired to the internet to solve the little issues (that seemed big at the time) I had.
And managed to get GTR2 up and running a few hours before the GT Spa Invitational - Nearly 2.5 hours of testing at one of the toughest tracks for the PC to handle.
Came through with flying colours, and managed 4th in nGT class to boot!!!
Thanks to my team-mates for giving me advice, but also to Aaron Jackson and in particular Simon Shepherd for providing loads and loads of help, advice and recommendations.
Never knew it would be this easy - LOL!
