New Series Idea
Mar 09, 2008

(Borrowed from the Swedish Sim Racing League)

GTNDC-R2P Mixed GT

This is a credit based system similar to that used by GTL with a twist. We would use GT cars for 6 events, G2 cars for 2 events and NGT cars for 2 events, a total of 10 events. We would also use some add-on tracks to make things a bit more interesting.

40% races with 2X wear and 2X fuel
starting amount of credits 55

miss a race you get 4 credits deducted so you can’t save up by not running, likewise if u have a car over 4 credits and do not make it you only loose 4 credits, and in a lower credit car you only loose the credits that car is worth and not 4 credits

if you enter a race with a car lower than 4 credits but fail to start the race due to disco it does not count as not having made that round, so you would lose max 4 credits

if you start a race with a car that cost more cr [... more]

XP Toast
Feb 02, 2008

Well XP took a dump on me this morning, and nothing I am aware of could get it going again. Getting lots of errors reinstalling so I think I am going to just finish this install, back up what I can from C drive and go buy Vista.

My XP is a corp version and Microsoft won't allow updates anymore. It is also pre SP2 but I have the SP2 file. Just not in the mood to screw with it anymore.

So needless to say, I had to back out of the 2 races I have scheduled for today.

Hopefully I will have all my racing stuff back up and running by the time my next event races.

New Series Poll
Jan 09, 2008

I am considering putting together a independent GTR2 series for those of us that WANT more GTR2. This would be a series running 60-90 minute races either mixed or single class, depending on what replies I get. Also the time slot will be determined by what replies I get, so it is important that if you are interested PLEASE post something.

I am open to suggestions but would like these primary questions answered in your reply.

Race Day of Week:

Time of Day (PST):

Class Choice:

I welcome any format suggestions as well.

Where is Jeff S
Nov 22, 2007

I was scrolling through the GT Open standings and noticed Mr Stibling missing in action. After further investigation it appears Jeff has all but abandoned GTR2 :( Still active racing but thats a bummer Jeff, I always enjoyed our battles together, guess there won't be many more of those since I have all but abandoned rF.

My List Of Don'ts
Apr 07, 2007

1. Don't drive a car that is better than your abilities.

2. Don't re-enter the track in front of oncoming traffic.

3. Don't follow too close to someone you are not familiar with.

4. Don't try that pass in that corner that you have failed to make when doing it alone.

5. Don't continue an event if you have already had 10 unassisted off.

6. Don't continue an event just because there are still cars you have not run into.

7. Don't drive by pit in when you have sparks coming from the area your front wheel would usually sit.

8. Don't use the same brake mark that was 75 yards too far last lap.

9. Don't assume that because your car is faster that you can make that dive bomb work from 4 car lengths back.

10. Don't join that event if you cannot complete 15 consecutive laps without a spin or a crash.

For the most part this is meant to be funny, however [... more]

How is my driving?
Mar 12, 2007

I try to think of my driving as very respectful of those around me. I even goes so far as to allow someone an easy, uncontested pass for position if they are clearly faster than I. When lapping cars I try to do it in a straight under braking so the driver ahead knows whats coming. Of course if I should contact another while competing for a position I will slow and wait, this simply out of respect and to express my sorrow for the incident.

I have recently suffered a penalty for wreckless driving. While I admit the move I made was a bit wreckless, the bottom line is that I considered the situation, made my move and no harm was done to anyone. I am not proud of the move, but it is done now. And I probably wouldn't attempt it again, regardless of the fact that a penalty might be assessed. But this whole thing caused me to question my driving in regards to how ot [... more]

Me and rFactor
Feb 06, 2007

Pretty interesting that since GTR2's release when ever I try and run anything rFactor I feel even more lost than I used to. Last year I could pretty much drive comfortably in PRC and F3. I didn't drive rF at all for about 4-5 months and now I feel almost totally lost. I did a PRC race and have tried some GP79 and F3 testing and really cannot find a comfort zone. The rear tires are cooking in PRC of course that is because I cannot seem to keep the rear planted.

Last night I got so frustrated lapping Montreal in PRC that I am real close to just retiring the game altogether. Combine that with the fact that the Thursday night PRC series had 8 drivers the first week and only 12 signed up this week and well, I just don't see the point anymore.

Give me another GTR2 series with 20+ drivers and cars that are adjustable :P

GTNDC 2005 Review
Sep 06, 2006

Written by Darin Boyd for AutoSimSport DEC 2005

2005 marked a year of transition and change for GTN in many ways. Prior to late 2004 GTN had mainly been involved in leagues hosted on F1rst2 lobby for F1c and related mods.

In a hard fought battle with Team DSB that went to the very last round of the season, we were able to clinch both the drivers and team titles in the 2004 F1c league. This league was run using the RH2003 mod and had well over 300 participants in two classes and mirrored the actual F1 calendar. GTN resident alien Claus Juel took the expert drivers title over some very stiff competition and several other GTN drivers made significant contributions, including 3 of the top 5 overall.

Most of our members cut our sim racing teeth on Simbin's GTR 2k2 for F12k2, and so all felt the “new GTR” would be our future home. The game arrived in the form of a [... more]
