Karl Wendlinger winner of the opening round of the FIA GT Championship at Silverstone a few weeks ago will team up with his old teammate Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Andrea Piccini at Le Mans this year.
Wendlinger and Frentzen were teammates for Mercedes in the Group C Worldchampionship and then a couple of years later again in Formula 1 with the Sauber team.
This Jetalliance Squad Should make for a pretty compedative outfit

... my dream car
1967 Shelby Cobra GT350 Mustang
Sigh If I win the lottery one day this classic will be mine :-)
Ford asked Carol Shelby to build a high performance race car based on the production Mustang fastback in 1965, the result was this stunning 1967 Shelby Cobra GT350 Mustang.
Early versions of Shelby's have the two "Guardsman Blue" racing strips that run the length of the car.
And check out the beautiful interior:

Well the first race in the GTx series for Novices held at Brno was a disaster for me, as well as slightly encouraging, if that makes any sense?.
It showed me that I am still a real Novice at this, still I think probably the most fun part about Sim racing is learning, learning about setting up a car, driving it faster and then making the correct calls depending on the conditions.
I made a few really basic errors and paid for them dearly - one was to have my radiator opening too closed on a hot day and had to constantly shift early to prevent my engine from going bang and then the worst of all was going out on soft tires which just became impossible to drive pretty quickly.
Still I had fun and know that had I not made some elementary mistakes my finishing position of 14th could easily have been 10th, I qualified 11th, out of a field of 22 which for me is not too bad.

Well my fist blog post and thought i'd just say that at the moment I am really getting into Sim Racing, still well off the pace of the top guys and to be honest I cannot figure out how those guys do it. Having said that i am enjoying the racing in the middle/back of the pack and have had some pretty decent scraps of late.
Am entering the GTx series for Novices, and will see how I go there.... more to follow

As the only Zimbabwean that I know of on R2P (sure there are others of you), I wonder how many of you know that there once were two Zimbabwean's (Rhodesian's) who drove in F1!
John Maxwell Lineham Love
John Maxwell Lineham Love was born in Bulawayo, Rhodesia on December the 7th 1924 and died recently on April 25th 2005.
And Did you know that John Love was also a multiple World Champion in motor cycle racing - Valentino Rossi eat your heart out!
John Love's first formula 1 race was the 1962 South African Grand Prix held at East London on December 29, driving a Cooper-Climax where he finished 8th. The Two time world champion and father of Damon Hill, Graham Hill went on to win the race.
The only other person from the republic of Rhodesia to successfull [... more]
