What happened to my blog entry people were debating on - the most recent one about Chertof and the Great American Wall? I can't fine it anywhere. EDIT: Check this out - From: Tim McArthur
Todd and I decided that the argument was crossing a line that we do not care to cross. From our Terms of Service:
Censorship? At R2P? I can understand it when it falls into the categories you mention, but this is simply a political issue, and there was some good debate following it. Offensive? Everybody's opinion about anything is offensive to somebody, it's an opinion after all. How is my opinion promoting racism? Bigotry? or hatrid? It doesn't, it simply states that I don't like the idea of the Great American Wall. I was going to post a funny blog called the Man Test, which I'm sure some people have seen, it's been floating around the 'net. But it's fantastically funny. But if I do I am sure, absolutely sure, after this little bit of censership, that you will remove it also. Why? Because it's asks questions about being a man or being a fag. I'm sure this post will also be removed before too many members get the chance to read it. That's a bunch of bs. If that's the way this site works then you can can cancel my membership and give me a refund for the unused portion of my membership, and I'll never come back to this site again. If not and you consider this an error on yours and Todds part then put the entry back up and lets get on... it was just a politcal statement and nothing more, for cryin' out loud. |
Chip, as you have seen, I have some very strong views that I won't compromise on and am not afraid to put into writing, but... Please don't let this decision by the R2P boyz effect your membership here. As far as I'm concerned, even tho I too really enjoy a good head to head discussion on very difficult subjects, I would rather see R2P just straight out ban any kind of super serious non sim racing related speach.
Having fun with a bunch of really great guys(mostly I assume - no girl members yet I believe). Don't even think about leaving us Chip, too many others have drifted away and there is no real reason for this to be happening. I'm still waiting for a race where I don't screw up so bad that we can have some fun laps together. Take a tip from my good pal Craig H. and get yourself a big bottle of Tequila and see if you don't feel a lot better after emptying it out! *grins* Hoping to see you soon bud, Dan
Oh c'mon, Chip. No need to get angry about all of this. All Tim and Todd are doing is trying to protect the well being of this site. Bringing up politics or religion or anything of the sort will no doubt turn it into a battlezone if not correctly handled (even then its too risky). I don't see the need to bring up those sort of things on this kind of site at the moment. That doesn't mean I don't think we can debate about politics/religion in the future, but right now R2P is essentially, still new. I think we just need some more time to get used to each other before we open up the floodgates :P. Now, I don't necessarily agree with the deletion of your blog post. Dean got away with his global warming and conspiracy posts and to me, those were more polarizing subjects than yours (depending on how you look at it). But they are just protecting the well being of the site and from us ripping each others heads off. Not everyone here is an adult and I am sure many will not act like one if a controversial topic is unleashed.
Chip, Conor is correct. Look at it this way, some of us, myself included, get our undies in a bunch when a mere sim race goes bad and flames start flying everywhere. Imagine the flame fest if we started yammering about political hot buttons. Besides which, altough we Yanks like to pride ourselves on the ability to run our mouths about anything, the First Amendment only applies to censorship by the government.

No to mention, there are way more pressing issues to focus all this energy towards....super-viruses, the planet is dying, and an Earth-destryoing asteroid that could be discovered at any second. The illegal alien problem is a flea on a rat's ass compared to these real problems.
Take up the stock car series. It's more fun than a barrel full of monkeys. |
