Power and Glory - WTF!!!
10:04 PM on Nov 18, 2007

OK. This mod has got me BAFFLED. I'm trying to run the NASRL races with the Power and Glory mod, using version 1.1 and I got version 1.102, which is obviously not the same because I got booted as a possible cheat when I tried to race tonight. Can someone PLEASE help me with this insane mod, because I really want to use it.

Also, it messes with the rest of the game and I get mismatched out the wazoo everywhere. For some reason it gives me a final drive option in the garage and all kinds of crazy crap. Explain? Anyone? THANK YOU

off my soap box now...Tom

Welcome to the current state of modding... complete confusion.

Sorry I can not be more helpful, I do not get involved with many mods for this very reason.

Hence the reason I stay WELL clear of many GTR mods.

Tom, NASRL hasn't moved to v1.02 yet. Hence the boots you experienced tonight (sounds like they'll have a server up to test it this week).

The "Terrain Patch", which _is_ used by NASRL, will cause mismatches with other GTR2 servers (including R2P) -- unless you are specifically joining a P&G race that is using it.

If you go:

START > PROGRAMS (or ALL PROGRAMS) > Power&Glory

you will find "Launch P&G Patcher"

you can use this to install or uninstall the "Terrain Patch" as needed.

Personally, i think it's easier to just maintain a separate GTR2 install for the P&G mod. It's certainly worth it, as you know.

[It's unfortunate -- you missed a great race!]

Tom, install P & G on a clean updated GTR2 folder. I think we'll be testing version 1.02 on the Nasrl server this week. So you might want to hold off on the clean install if you already have v 1.02... I think the new version fixes alot of the CTD's. We'll see.

in that case i'll leave it the way it is, because i put the v.1.02 in my clean game that only has R2P mods and things in it. so it would be a pain to go through and do all that again.

if we do update to 1.02 i'll be sitting pretty. i drove the cars afterward just to see what i'd do around Oschersleben in the car i planned to drive (Lotus Cortina) and did a 1.17.6. would that have been good? Great fun to drive that Cortina, BTW...highly recommend it.

I was completely confused on why I was getting booted for a "possible cheat" when I was trying to get on the server, but I was told about using the Launch P&G Patcher and selecting Terrain Patch etc etc and it all works now. Just have to remember when you want to go into other servers for GTR2 you have to go back into the Patcher and restore it. Not too bad :)

Great fun by the way racing with this mod and the group from NASRL. Very close racing for most of the race.

Tom, 1.17.6 would have been a good lap, lap times ranged from 1:17.406 (Conor McCarrell, winner) to 01:20.291
