S6 Finals coming up!

Hey all,

Well everyone knows that all the championships are finishing up for Season 6 and champions are being named. I'm in the running to win 3 different championships at the moment. US Spec Rhez, US G3X, and US G2X. And, to be quite frank, I'm really nervous about them all. The G3X is my main concern. The finale is at Spa and I'm stuck driving a BMW Z3M because of the car restrictions for guys in the top 5. Also, I'm leading the championship in a 3 way tie with George Pol and Steve Blankenship. Both better drivers than myself, in my opinion. With the rest of the field surrounding us in Viper Compeition Coupes, I'm worried that the top guys who aren't under the restriction (6th and 7th in points) will come out on top. We'll see how that goes.

Both G2 and G3 Extreme are looking to be a real nail-biter in the teams championships as well as the drivers championships. There is a 4 point differential between CanAm Racing and UK/NL, CanAm with the advantage in both series. There's an unusual situation with the G2X series right now for the finale, with the car restriction lifted. That means the top guys aren't going to be limited to how well they can do and that will make for a very exciting race.

Spec Rhez has been an exciting series all year. Tiny and slow cars + huge fields = awesome racing. Some interesting rounds, especially at Lime Rock where I was not allowed to qualify for either race due to an incorrectly configured car the race before. I started dead last in a 26 car field both races and made it up to 2nd and 4th respectively. That I was very excited about. Chris Melton is my main worry for this championship, and there look to be some spoilers in the final round next week at Birmingham Sprint (Scott Michaels :p). This championship would be awesome to win just because I know this series is one of the more difficult to succeed in because of the tight racing in the race itself. A lot of other series are tough because they have a lot of alien drivers in them, and they have lots of car choices and setups to go through, and half the competition is in qualifying. But with Spec Rhez, the only thing that really matters is how you do in the actual race. The setups are limited, the cars are Spec (and very slow and momentum oriented), and there is a top-notch batch of drivers in the running to win.

Overall I'm just thrilled to be in the position I'm in. This is my first full season at R2P and my first opportunity to actually finish a season with a league. I can't wait to see how this goes!

Tom

Great summary of what is coming to us in the next two weeks Tom. We at UK-NL are looking forward to it and I'm sure you CanAm-guys will be too. It will be races to remember.

Ditto to George's comments Tom, and thanks for the compliment - but I can't agree with your driver rating; I'm thinking you're the point man!

Definitely going to be interesting series finishes in G2 & G3. Really an ideal situation for anyone whose interest is in clean, close competition, and that's what it's all about for me here at R2P. Best of luck to all; let's hope mishaps and computer gremlins don't foil anyone's hopes.

For some twisted reason I'm looking forward more to Spa in what will be a dog-slow Z3 than an unrestricted G2 ride at Estoril. Got to be something wrong with that... ;-)

Yes that's a little twisted, I'm not excited at all about Spa :p but G2 race I'm all worked up for. Can't wait.

Thanks for the wished, Paul :)
