Jimmy is the sloppiest guitar player of all time. He and Joe Perry of Aerosmith are soooooo over-rated.

hmm.

Jimmy writes a good riff, and was the creator of the modern rock format but his lead playing always has left a lot to be desired in my opinion.

I agree, he was sloppy...There are a few good instances where I can notice he had trouble playing through the riff and it kinda makes me cringe when I hear it. However, he is a great for his innovative style and music production. And that is fine with me...

Joe Perry's biggest influence was Paige (obviously), but I don't think he is as sloppy as him.

Mind you, Perry's playing never goes out quite as far as Paige's does. Paige if anything is always playing at or just over his ability IMO.

I have really only listened to Zep from their studio albums , no way sloppy...Of course i have seen the Movie countless times..seems also that Page may have dubbed it cause the guitar playing was sometimes not in sync withe music. Nothing beats Since i've been Loving you solo and the Stairway solo or Dased and Confused from the Movie..but if you go on YouTube search the word "the Nobs" you will see Page and why he is a Genius, especially after a bottle of Jack and who knows what else ;) Live footage that for sure some of you have never seen before. :)
oh, and "LedZeppelin" as a whole, is what its all about ;)

Must agree he's not the most technical expert...

But he and Zeppelin were innovative. Basically brought blues into the hard rock world. Nobody else had a guitar sound and style like him, all very processed of course. When I was playing in local bands around then, our guitar players spent a fortune on Gibson guitars, Marshall double stacks, to try to get that sound. Never quite got it. Using a bow on a distorted electric guitar...

For me, the next guitar player that really changed the sound of rock guitar was Eddie Van Halen. Again, unique style, original sound, thou a bit more technical.

The Zep reunion sounds pretty good from what I've heard, not a lame rehash of hits. And Jason seemed to do a good job as well.

Are there any songs on Guitar Hero from Zep? Other than Stairway to Heaven, of course.
