Help With Stock Car Racing Set Up
10:08 PM on Dec 16, 2007

Alright, I probably should start by saying that I'm completely new to rFactor, and while I generally have no problems working with computers, I'm not a big fan of programming, but will be able to understand basic instructions with no problems.

Here is where I currently stand; I purchased rFactor about a week ago, and have installed it on my computer, that runs Vista if that means anything, with no problems. It is activated, and I have been learning the menus and racing with most of the cars. The main reason I bought it was for the stock car racing. I have GT Legends and GTR 2, and will eventually get into the road racing aspects of rFactor as well, but I've had a desire for a Stock Car game for years and upon joining Race2Play it has been my number one goal.
So I have downloaded the TPSCC Version 1.1 addon, as well as R2P Stock Car Challenge rFm. Also for good measure I downloaded the first 5 tracks listed by Tim in his article on the subject, and several of the carsets.
Here is where I must admit my ignorance. I then ran the exe. file of each of the two programs, installing ver. 1.1 and the rFm file into the rFactor folder on my computer. The program ran, it seemed fine, and at the start menu of the game itself there is the option for TPSCC v. 1.1 listed. I also installed each of the tracks, as well as the patch for them. Yesterday I then attempted to sign up for the Nevada race, the Las Vegas 150 last night. I knew I wouldn't be up to speed, but I wanted to see how that game would work. Each time I tried to connect using the correct password, an error message would pop up telling me that my version is not compatable. I believe that I'm running the most up to date version of rFactor, as it was just purchased a few days prior.
My question ends up coming to this. Is there a listing of how to install all of the files needed, or even a list of what files need to be in what areas of the game folders? Is there anything else I need to do that I overlooked? Looking at the schedule I have until the beginning of January to get everything settle, but is there a way to check the internet connections before starting.
I appreciate any help that anyone can offer, once this is all settled I can start working on my driving ability.

Hi Richard, welcome

If everything got to where it needed to be, look in your in game window where it lists the different series and click the on the one that says something like "R2P TPSCC 1.1".

Hi Richard,

Sorry you had troubles getting in. You say you have the most up to date version of rFactor, but did you actually update it to the most recent patch. I don't believe the trial download or box version would include it. The link for a guide to installing it are here:
v1255f Update

I hope that helps. But no worries, theres plenty of people around to help with problems like these, and plenty of help with setup and driving strategy. Particularly in stock cars, where we have the benefit of Greg Carrier, a Stock Car Guru, who holds stock car tutoring events for us all.

I'm looking forward to the tutoring, so far I'm spinning my wheels mostly on the track. I appreciate the advice, bad assumption on my part, I'll install the new update for rFactor tonight and see how that helps. I did see that I have the option to run TPSCC 1.1 on the main menu of the game, so I guess that means it was at least loaded correctly.

Like Joe said You should have a choice between "TPSCC 1.1" and "R2P TPSCC 1.1" you want the later when joining a R2P server
