RACE 07 Pit Stops
08:04 PM on Jan 13, 2008

I am entered in an upcoming F3000 race at Magny-Cours on RACE 07. I've only just got this game and I'm struggling to understand the pit procedure. Is it all automatic and no option to manually pit? So far I've been discoed from a race because my car wouldn't start after refilling with fuel, or just been sat waiting a long time for my car to start. I'm sure something is wrong, I just don't know if it's me or the game causing the problem. I have assigned a button for ignition and starter but they don't seem to do anything once the auto-pilot takes over in the pit-lane.
So would someone be kind enough to explain how it works for me please?

Not sure about your problem but I have noticed that during a pit stop the automatic pit exit proceedure can cause my wheel to have it's centre spot shifted to the left. That's quite annoying.

Yah, pit stops are my big complaint with RACE 07. I never had made one until the F3000 fun-run at Imola the other day. It must have went well, as the game automatically took over and pitted me, and I jammed on the starter and ignition and it started up quickly after the stop was complete.

Had no idea if that was my doing or if it was automatic. It seemed kinda slow, but figured it was because it made repairs, because there is no option to turn it off. Neither is there an option for manual control in the sim. Either way, somehow I ended up gaining 5 positions through the pitting sequence!

Only till the end did I realize how many problems people had on the pits. Cars running into each other, people serving penalties. So at this point, I had a good stop, but that must have been luck. So I guess I'm gonna have to do some stops during an AI race to test the pitting out. Hopefully, whatever I did right in that race, I can repeat in future races.

If theres in one recommendation I can give, is your best bet to avoid problems is to pit when as few cars are on the track as possible. Once you figure out the whole starting issue, it shouldn't be a big deal anymore.

In Race 07 the pit stops are automated. You have no control over the fuel they put in, or the tyres that get changed. Why simbin did this is bizzare. Thats why we cannot have any races that require a pit stop.

Thanks for your advice and comments guys. The upcoming F3000 race is 23 laps and by my reckoning that means a stop for fuel or you won't reach the end. So either we are going to have to pit or the race length needs to be altered.
