(Borrowed from the Swedish Sim Racing League) GTNDC-R2P Mixed GT This is a credit based system similar to that used by GTL with a twist. We would use GT cars for 6 events, G2 cars for 2 events and NGT cars for 2 events, a total of 10 events. We would also use some add-on tracks to make things a bit more interesting. 40% races with 2X wear and 2X fuel
miss a race you get 4 credits deducted so you can’t save up by not running, likewise if u have a car over 4 credits and do not make it you only loose 4 credits, and in a lower credit car you only loose the credits that car is worth and not 4 credits if you enter a race with a car lower than 4 credits but fail to start the race due to disco it does not count as not having made that round, so you would lose max 4 credits if you start a race with a car that cost more credits than u have -> DQ if you jump into the series after some races, say race 3, you start with 55 credits –8 credits Schedule Spanish GP Valencia 2004, 50 laps GT
GT credits
NGT credits
G2 credits
Points System Top 15 positions earn driver points as follows 1 = 20
Any interest in something like this? |
Yep thats a great idea but; i think Tim's idea of top 5 drivers will use slower car in some series is about closing the gap between fast and slow guys. With this credit type of racing everyone will have to drive slower cars because of credits (warn me if i am wrong :P). Gap between fast and slow drivers will stay where it is. This is my only concern. Other than that I am all for this type, because it will bring variance on car selection. Not full rsr ngt races, not full m3 g2 races. I hope this will come alive as soon as possible :)
My interpretation is that this could be a completely new series, separate from all others, and would have no effect on any other series. The way I read it, I think your concern is unnecessary. I like the idea. I've never had the opportunity to drive in the GTL series because of the day it's run on, but if this were to happen, and it fell on a weeknight then I'd be taking part in it. I like the variety. Good idea Kent.
seems interesting Kent, and i didn't know you were still around :)
I like this idea as well. It would make you choose you cars wisely so as not to eat up your 55 credits. I would bump up the credit count for the RS though. It looks like a great deal
Looks good to me Kent

I like the basic idea but I'd say car credit relations and perhaps even car groupings could use some finetuning. Even if this would mean going outside the car classes at r2p.
@ Tolga & John - This would be a totally new and seperate series from what is now on the plate. Also my belief is that with a credit based system the penalizing of "the better drivers" is already taking place. We come entertain the idea of 5-10 more credits for -X rank drivers though. @ Chip - IF and judging from the mere 6 replies that is a big IF, this thing were to go, it would most likely be in the Saturday Night US time slot. This would give the Euro's the chance to race, even it that meant a Morning event for them. @ David - I am still around, just been busy the last few weeks with real life. @ Garret and Ari - Car credits are definatly open for discussion. With G2 and nGT only getting 2 events, 1 of each of those are late in the season so planning becomes paramount. I am a bit surprised to see so few comments. I kind of figured something different would at least draw some more discussion. For now I will bump this up a few times and see what shakes out.
I, too, am a bit surprised by the lack of responses. This is a great idea and puts a fresh twist to running GTR2 cars. I am growing a bit weary of the "if you're in the top 5, you can't drive -this- car" rule. It would be nice to choose your car from a strategy point of view in lieu of a performance penalty pov.

Here's what classes I was thinking, credits to be decided. Emphasis is on making car differences smaller and removing clearly dominant or inferior cars from the groups. GT:
NGT:
I'm not sure if Seat fits in well, it has more power than the others. (G2):
I'm a bit weary of including GT2 Porsche in G2, or even Bi-Turbo. Their weight and power are that much different from the other G2 cars that they might not fit in well. In fact I'd just get rid of G2.
