Hulu.com is out of beta. Now public
05:05 PM on Mar 12, 2008

As a faithful Newscorp employee, I must now fulfill my robotic duties to inform all of you that www.hulu.com is now out of beta, and available for public viewing (sorry, only US for now). Full length episodes of past and present NBC and Fox tv shows/movies, as well as excerpt clips for some shows. HD content is planned as well.

Best of all, it's Free. I use it to watch Late Night with Conan episodes, since I don't have room to DVR them every night, but still want to watch it occasionally. Plus, original season 1 A-Team episodes. Need I say more? ;)
(The ads aren't there if you view them from within hulu's site)

And now, every man's fantasy ... nightmare ... fantasy ... nightmare ... fantasy ...

As a faithful employee, can you tell us if they plan on adding any auto-racing? Races or shows like Fifth Gear and Top Gear?

Chip, 5th gear and Top Gear are not NBC/Universal or Newscorp/TCFTV/FTVS shows.

I don't have any actual insight on how Hulu licenses the shows, but I would guess that SpeedTV highlights could eventually make it on there. I see NBA clips so they already have some sports stuff.

Hulu is limited to showing only shows from NBC/Universal or Newscorp/TCFTV/FTVS? What a drag. Oh, well, it does have some good stuff. I also have Veoh and it has a huge variety as well.

Chip, glass half full mate! :)
I think it's a great site, yes-- it does not cover everything you can find on your satelite dish or cable, but for someone who still remembers black&white TVs the ability to watch some shows on my laptop (while my wife monopolizes the TV for Desperate Housewifes or something like that) tickles me to no end. Already bookmarked the site.
p.s.
truth is I have seen black&white TVs on documentaries, ;) but I was trying to make a point...
