Obutto Cockpit ARRIVED
02:02 PM on Mar 28, 2008

The Obutto cockpit arrived at my office today in the morning. I knew the dimensions, but I forgot how big nearly a metre cubed really is...this thing is going to be a bitch to get home, but it will be well worth the toils. I plan to call in a favour from a friend to see if he can help me lug it home in his Cavalier. I'll have to remove all the pieces from the box and pile all the tubeframe parts in the trunk and put the seat in the back seat and hopefully everything will fit that way.

I got the tools in order so tonight is project night. I have to relocate my snake's tank since she currently lives where the cockpit is going to go and then I am setting up the cockpit and computer etc and then I demand to be left alone while I crack out on champcars in this new beast.

I've already booked the whole night off from the girlfriend, so this evening is shaping up to be filled with glorious sloth. I will post pictures and opinions once it's up, but hopes are extremely high.

Haha, right on. What sort of RL events have you got going on in April? You should write a blog post about it.

Is that maybe because they're waiting on new stock or something? I have had this one on hold for me for a month or two before I actually got it shipped out, so it could be a stock issue, waiting for more to get built. ?

Hi, i have been looking at pre-made cockpits and this looks the best value for money (and looks great) that i can find on the net. Does anyone know of any European distributors? Got a feeling that after all things said and done (tax, shipping etc) the cost could be doubled if i purchase this from the USA.

cheers

Yeh,Chris from Obutto advised that there had been a production issue with the new shipment which has resulted in the delay - will just have to wait.

Brian, just shipping the thing to Canada cost me nearly what the cockpit does, so don't be surprised. I recall Chris was in talks with someone about shipping a container to the UK for distribution there, so that might be a route for you to take. Alternately, the cockpits are built in China, so maybe it's more cost effective to have it shipped to you right from there (if you're in mainland EU) because maybe it's cheaper to ship via rail as opposed to air or sea?
