You guys were right, Race 07 is crap
12:07 PM on Apr 09, 2008

I'm so pissed off right now. I practiced for a few days for my first Race 07 event (Euro Caterhams at Puebla). Qualified middle of the field and then when I got to the grid, my throttle didn't respond at all. I couldn't gas the car. The green light came and I wasn't able to move and I got hit from behind. I restarted my car to make sure it was running (it was) but no dice. I exited out without having moved an inch.

Really pissed off about this right now. I even did a test race using these cars at this track earlier today to make sure everything was fine. I've heard various other people complaining about Race screwing them around in multiplayer and for my first time out, I'm reluctant to try again.

Thats pretty unlucky, only problem i've had online is not setting my clutch button up so ended up with false start, oh and the fact that the multiplayer seems to be powered by a hamster running in its wheel, netcode is very juddery, making it pretty hard to get a decent battle going.

Justin .. on the grid .. you dont have access to your throttle until all cars are on the grid and light countdown starts .. are you sure you were not caught out by this ?

No heinz, I was aware of that and waited and then all the other cars started to rev, preparing for the standing start and still I had no throttle control. It wasn't until after the green light had gone and everyone had taken off that I gave up.

I've done several races with Race07 here and at HSRL. Never had a problem at all. I like this sim more than any others. Don't give up so soon Justin.

Well, I am running WTCC this Friday. If it goes fine, I'll continue with my schedule of running another caterham race and another wtcc as well as an fbmw over the next couple weeks. If it gives me any shit, I'm done with Race.

I heard there's an RF mod which is basically a Race reproduction and heard it's better as well. It certainly has to have far better multiplayer support..

Although it is illegal. I've never had any problems with race when competing online. Do you have anything running in the background that could be causing confusion?

No. As I said, I did testing without issue and I've been doing a lot of online practice for the last few days. I got through qualifying without issue. I pare my system down to only the necessities on my sim box.

Oh, I didn't understand what Jon Weal was saying. I thought he was saying that his own copy of Race 07 is illegal yet he has no issues. I didn't understand why he would feel volunteering that to be helpful. ;)

Now I get it. That explains why I have been unable to find any information about it via google even, just mentions in foreign languages.

was your clutch set to auto? Sometimes the control settings change for unknown reasons. I dont have race 07 but I have seen this in ACRA
