What is the highest G-force that a driver has experienced in a crash in motorsports? I know that Robert Kubica's crash last year was around 75G and he miraculously sustained only a minor concussion. |
Fisichella crashed at something like 130G a few years ago in the Jordan at Magny Cours with only minor injuries
I forget what Mark Blundell's crash in a Champ Car in Rio was measured at, but I remember reading it was the biggest hit recorded up to that time. I imagine Kenny Brack's hit in an IndyCar in Texas was bigtime G's too, although I never remember a published G measurement, just assuming...
Quick Google search... "David Purley, Silverstone 1977 (highest G-force ever recorded, 180 G, the car decelerating from approx. 110 mph to zero in half a meter." His car... http://www.automag.be/IMG/jpg/accident.jpg He survived with multiple breaks, etc, and lived to race again (though not F1 I believe).
Couldnt find anything in Google on Blundell's crash, but Brack's crash peaked at 214 Gs. Fuckin lucky mofo!
I experience 14,517 G's everytime I take a crap.
Good call Ray :-) Assuming that you weigh in at about 165 pounds.. you would be unloading 2,395,305 pounds onto your toilet. Can't be good for it i'd say ;-)
