Unwanted Distraction

A little over six years ago, Judy had a cancerous mole (melanoma) removed, fortunately it had not spread and all was well. Then this morning, following a routine trip to the medic, she was told she **may** have cervical cancer. A scan sometime in the next few weeks will confirm one way or the other.
Anyone who's ever been there can probably relate to the emotions running through my head when she told me. First there's the disbelief, then the blind panic and finally the anger. Anger, not at the disease, but at the doctor who told her this without any hard evidence. Without that scan, the odds are very much in our favour. Don't these guys know that even the slightest hint of the 'C' word can strike fear into even the hardest souls?
The British health service being what it is, it looks like we shall be spending the holidays (and probably a good while beyond) trying to think positive, carry on as normal and NOT worry about it. Like that's gonna happen!
So, guys, please accept my apologies if I appear a little distracted for the next few races.

Pete, hang in there. man, this is close to home. 2 wks ago my mrs goes in for the annual lady's exam. her dr of 20 some odd years says that he sees a problem w/ a dysplasia of the cervix and wants to do a biopsy. i know what you mean about the dr talking w/o hard evidence; it is like why are you dropping the C bomb on us? so she has that done and it takes about a week for the results to come back. luckily, she does not have cancer but does has some changes the cellular level. now, her lady exams have to be done every 6 months rather than 12. i hope you and the mrs are blessed with a same or better outcome than ours. hang in there pete. she's going to need you alot now. God's blessing to you and her.

Oh, my God, Pete, I hate to hear that. You are absolutely right in questioning why the doctor would say anything without concrete evidence. I hope and pray the preliminary "diagnosis" is incorrect. Certainly it is going to be very difficult dealing with the possibility over the next weeks and I don't envy either of you. You must help each other through this ordeal and remain positive througout. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the little lady, Pete.

I'm sorry to hear of this and I sincerely hope and trust that everything goes well. Please, give my best wishes to her. I usually don't pray but today I will, just in case.
