File deleted, but no free space freed up?

Not sure what happened. Here's how the story goes:

Went to delete a tivo of FiaGT Monza (Filesize 2GB). Opened recycle bin to delete the file from recycle bin and free up space.
Pressed delete in vista, nothing happened. Pushed it again... and again... and nothing happened. All the sudden a box pops up saying "confirm delete?" and I pushed yes. I then see a progress bar displaying the deletion of the file. While the progress bar is moving, another box saying "confirm delete?" (of the same file) comes up. I push no.

Go back to find that the file is gone, but no space was freed.

What can i do?

Nevermind. Problem Solved.
Downloaded WinDirStat and removed a hidden file.

You have to empty your trash to free up space.

I know. That was part of the problem. I emptied the trash, and while the trash was emptying, I somehow told vista to not empty the trash. It followed both commands, and left a ghost file on the drive.

ok do this. I did it and it worked. Reinstall the file. Then delete it and etc.. after.
