Hey Lads, I'm sure alot of you have probably seen this, but i thought i would post it, as its the best tribute i have ever seen, and once the music starts its just got the most amazing atmosphere which is breathtaking: The first part is quite long, but make sure you watch it all! This video is not made by me. |
Man.
I have to ask, what was that part where senna got out of his car and ran to another car? was that his team mate? does anyone know? Senna had an interesting final weekend... One of his good friends was talking to him the weekend of Imola 94, his last grand prix. And before the weekend started, his friend said to him
and senna thought about it and said "no, i cannot quit now. I cannot quit". - that was the weekend of his final grand prix. Scary isn't it? And the second thing, in 89 he had another driver he was friends with who hit the dangerous wall in imola and was sent to the hospital. Senna went to visit him in the hospital and they were talking about the corner. His friend mentioned that the corner was too dangerous, and senna eventually agreed. Later the next year, they walked down to the corner to see if they could change the corner to make it more safe. And they noticed there was rebar behind it, so they could not change the corner. Senna and his friend walked back after that. Thats the same corner where he died.
wow, very interesting stuff there andrew. The part when he helped the other driver was not his team mate i think, but he was just doing what all good racers should do, helping a fellow rival.
Oh sure, I've just never seen anyone else stop their race to help another driver. Brilliant...
Yeah, Senna realy was special. He was obsessed with winning to an unreal level, yet he would effortlessly stop to help. I think people like him are gone now, which is a damn shame.
Thanks for posting Richie.
I can only shake my head and ask... Why? Thanks for posting this Richie.
Watched that Monaco Race of Kings DVD the other day, Jackie Stewart mentioned that over the course of his career, 65 drivers known to him and his wife had been killed, 6 of which were very close friends. Amazing the progress in safety.
wow, 65! Thanks Jonty. | ||
Yep, I saw a statistic before the F1 season start and the numbers there were frightening... Killed, injured or crippled drivers losing will to live. It's sad, but the most spectacular cars/tracks took many lives. Even though the progress in the safety systems is notable incidents still happen - remember Schumaher at Silverstone, Kubica at Montreal, Heiki at Barcelona, Alex Zanardi in the ChampCar series...

thanks for that vid Ruslan. Every time i see that crash, and remember who belloff was i feel quite sad. Belloff was another schumacher in my opinion, he was such a fast driver, and seemed to dominate nordschlefie. Then when you see how the front wheels of his car are where he was meant to be sitting its just horrific. Thanks for the vid. |
