Donington, first race on R2P
04:48 AM on Jun 09, 2008

The Donington Park GP Extreme Novice GT was my first race here on R2P and my first race ever on a flooded track. It never crossed my mind I'll be racing on hard rain so soon. Although I knew the weather was set on changeable, I hoped for clear skies.

Thanks to some really helpful hints from the officials (in the in-game chat), I was able to get a decent setup without actually testing it. The basic adjustments made exclusively for the drenched track were: soft wet tire selection on all fours, a lower differential setting (I have to learn more about this), a higher rear wing setting (12 instead of 8, for my Lambo). I figure that lowering the tire pressure might also help.

Inevitably, some mistakes were made. I lost control quite a few times, but with no capital consequences. Some stubborn lapped cars gave me the chills and thrills, topped with a punt, but all in all the race was exciting.

That was a tough one for your 1st R2P event. Now that you've got the hard part over with, the rest s/b easy! LoL

At least you know how to set one up for monsoon conditions, looked like boat races out there with all the spray. hehe

Cu around Bogdan,

Dan

Thanks for the comment, Dan! There were some nice moments in this event, even though it looked like boat racing indeed. Last couple of laps we raced pretty close and I enjoyed every second of it. Hope to see you at Birmingham!

Hi Bogdan and welcome - it's amazing how many Romanians are here at R2P compared to surrounding countries. You must be car mad there? :-)

In fact, another Bogdan, a guy I met once in Romania runs a Ferrari fan club.

Hi Jonty!

There aren't that many motor racing enthusiasts here in Romania, to tell you the truth, but I guess most of us find R2P a great place to race in. We actually have troubles in finding sim racing fans when organizing an internal championship. Hopefully, the community will be growing as things started to evolve, apparently. The FIA GT series is returning this year to Bucharest (our capital) and a race track might be built somewhere in the country, so I guess the motor sports thing has finally gained some popularity around here too.

Thanks for the warm welcome and comments! See you around!
