Goodbye Oran Park

Well I had a mate racing out there today so thought I pop on down and take some pics before it gets demolished. Here's what you'll find at a typical Aussie track meet...

Formula Vees

Sports Sedans - typically 700HP Chevy V8's

Combined Touring/Enduro Class - bit of everything

Australian Formula 2

200HP, power-to-weight and lap-times similar to a V8 Supercar. Stepping stone to F3.

Clubmans also race with the F2's.

The Holden HQ's

An Australian icon, but impossible to get a clear shot because they rattle too much.

So, are they closing it down or demolishing for a re-build?

That makes sense, especially since Australia is so tight with space.

Urban sprawl...

Oran Park is one hour out from the center of Sydney out in (what used to be) rural land. These satellite villages are popping up around it because land is 'relatively' cheap.

Then come the noise complaints and I guess the owners of Oran Park not being able to resist what their land has become worth.
