Well here was my first race at Race2Play using the BMW E30 WTC`87. Qualifying was poor with my grid position being 7th out of 7 so there was always going to be a lot to ask and judging by my lap time’s the race was always going to be an uphill struggle. The light went green off we went I thought I might had jumped the light as Michael Virt who qualified in 6th seemed to have a poor start so I backed of the accelerator to end up losing time just from the grid oh well LOL. The race was pretty uneventful although I managed to get up to 6th place after Kevin Kernodle I believe made an error this did not last to long as I went wide at one corner and the position was lost. From here on the race was like a Sunday drive for me although there was some interest near the end of the race where I went off the track and crashed into the barrier damaging the left hand side of the car so it was now pulling to the left. Overall my race was poor but this was my first attempt and at least I finished the race but my lap times certainly need to improve if I am to be anywhere near competitive hopefully this will change when the Logitech Formula Force EX Driving Wheel And Pedals that i ordered today (well I can hope) so although I was last I was glad i took part and it made a change to be passed fairly without being rammed off the road to do so like on public servers. I will be back hopefully with a vengeance so see you all on the track again soon. |
Good story Grant. I know of a lot of guys that started online racing not long ago, and have evolved into some very stiff competition. Don't let your pace distract you from the fun... and of course, your pace will pick up as time goes on. Next thing you know you will be right in the thick of it and that is where things can actually get frustrating at times.
R2P is the single greatest place to come if you are new to online racing. I first started here back in October/November last year... I now constantly get the itches to sign up to a new event every time I sign on! You're gonna love it, Kind Regards, JW
You're gonna love this place Grant. When I started here last year, my first goal was to just finish a race. Then the next goal was to just not finish last. Then get into the points. After a ton of practice, and reading many books, I finally have even made a couple of podiums. I did my own blog titled "Very Frustrated" and got a lot of help from the community here. If you ever need any help, look no further than the people here. It's amazing how much help is offered. Just remember, have fun first! The results will come in time.
Yes I really asleep on the start LOL. Welcome here Grant, best place for racing on whole web!!
Thanks for the warm welcome guys Race2play is the reason I purchased rfactor and I had never heard of the game prior to this I then purchased Race 07 but I see from the calendar it seems this has run its course, oh well single player is always there and it was cheap plus my five year old son likes playing it, future Race2play star maybe LOL. I have had some races on Racecast on rfactor and have not finished last in any of them, not bad for a noob with no steering wheel at the moment but the amount of people who just punt you off is ridiculous but still huge fun and the replays well they are hilarious watching cars flying all over the place LOL. I think im hooked now as its 6:27am as I type this and im coming on here everyday looking at what race I can take part in now all I need to do is try and find a copy of GTR2 which is like trying to find buried treasure in the U.K but I will continue my hunt. With that I look forward to the next race and maybe not finishing last but hey taking part is where the fun begins and hopefully some good results will come in time. |
