This next August, The Pits Touring Car Championship will be ten years old, the oldest road-racing league around (pre-dating GPL by a year). In fact, unless some of the older Papy-racing leagues have still survived (forgot their name now, but it started with an "H", we are the oldest sim racing league, period! We plan to do a lot of cool things for 2007. Should have plenty of fun! And I tend to think a big celebratory race in August will be in order... TPTCC was originally started to support the first major mod for PC related games, The Pits Touring Car Championship v1, where we turned a NASCAR racing sim into something to replicate the world of SuperTouring...which is now defunct except for maybe the Swedish championship. However, things have changed drastically since then. We used to race offline and send in our results (since online play didn't support add-on mods). Now we run all live multiplayer events. You probably wouldn't believe all the things we had to 'fudge' in the original mod...we can pretty much adjust everything now, including tweaking cars to competitively align performance, just like the real series do. At any rate, I'm excited about this 10th year, and if you want to learn more about the 10-year history of TPTCC...check it out! http://www.thenorwaypits.com/tptcc/index.html Cheers! Jan |
That sure is a pretty Viper on that page, way ahead of its time. :) Hopefully the next session can use a REAL viper. (and maybe a little ford power too).
I am looking forward to another ten years. (I am waiting to open my Christmas Present...a Logitech G25) Let's go racin' James

jan, did your falcon get a friend?
In honor of your 10 year anniversary, and to say thanks for wasting hundreds of hours of my life in the Red Saab and Nascar 2 ;) I present this lovely gift courtesy of youtube. Proof positive that no matter what piece of junk you put Randy Pobst in, he's damn fast. :D Congrats Jan and company.
>> jan, did your falcon get a friend? << Yep...they're multiplying! :) >> I present this lovely gift courtesy of youtube. << Very cool! I've not got that race on vid, have to watch it. If anyone manages to download the entire thing (keepvid.com), lemme know!
Interesting stuff. I created a BTCC skins set for N1 back in 95. My memories are that it was rather good but fortunately I don't have any screenshots to disprove my memories! The "series" consisted of a full season alternating at Watkins Glen and Sears Point. Some trivia - There are three ex TPTCC champions running at Silverstone tonight on R2P. Cheers
