I was most impressed between 1:00 and 1:50. Catching air at 140mph, coming back up the hill and approaching that hard left at 170mph, then bottoming out in the next valley at 160mph. I've done all that in various sims, of course, but doing it for real in a test-mule ZR1 seems pretty ballsy to me.

Don't get me wrong, the ZR1 is surely a fast car, but i'd really like to see some other companies put their cars on the ring for a lap.
Companies like Ferrari, Maserati, Lotus (if they haven't already), Ascari, Koenigsegg, etc.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a ferrari do extremely well. Does anyone know why they never do ring tests?

Well they are, hmm well not the factory obviously but you can see more on the link below :)
I believe it's corporate policy, but than again you cannot sell cars to the general public because they were brilliant on the ring. Most of people did not hear about Nordschleife, or even Germany on the same token :-p j/k

P.S. Thanks Mike, great video.

Thanks for the link Cristi.
I must admit I'm kind of disappointed at the ferrari times.

Surely ferrari's are brilliant in the corners, are they just not as quick in terms of raw speed?

I mean the 599 GTB is very large, and isn't the quickest car around the corners, but it's time is not really impressive. Is it lacking in straight line speed?

This is very interesting.

I don't think it lacks speed because under the bonnet is the same engine you find in the Enzo.
0-300 km/h in 30 seconds - that's fast so it's not the acceleration either.
Here are some interesting numbers compared to the normal Z06.

at the first look this cars kinda seem to be the same but the Vette manages a few seconds better on Nordy.
But I'd take the 599 anytime :D

Agreed. I'm just bothered by that figure of the 599. Perhaps there is a problem because its so wide. It also doesn't handle as well as the best ferrari, being that its front engine. Extra weight may also be a factor. The corvette doesn't have all the room you might want in the boot, etc. The 599 does.

I'd kill to know where the vette makes up time though. Wonder if its in the tires too. I know that bridgestone tires don't do near as well as pirelli's on a 599.

I'd fancy to see where the 430 Scuderia ends up. Probably pretty close (if not faster) than the 599. At least thats the way it is on ferrari's test track.

I'd say a lot better than the 599, giving the fact that it was close to an Enzo on the track.
599 - Grand Touring car
430 Scuderia - race car
and boy this 430 Scuderia is a looker. I just love it. When 430 first came on the set I was amazed what a beauty she was, but this baby has more bone :D I just love it. Damn I said it again :D
Maybe top 3 on my list of cars :)

BTW Novitec Rosso - tuning car company managed to pull 717 bhp from the engine compared to the 510 Scuderia has stock.
717 CP/8.350 rpm & 722 Nm/6.250 rpm

0-100 km/h - 3,5
0-200 km/h - 10,1
0-300 km/h - 26,1

Managed a top speed of 348 km/h with longer gear ratios
