Wheels and 3rd race disconnect
07:30 PM on Jul 30, 2008

I've been thinking about getting a wheel for a while.
I've been looking at the DFP(~$100), DF:GT(~$150), MOMO(~$90), G25(~$250), sidewinder(~$100), & the X360(~$100) and so far it seems like the only real choices are the Driving Force GT, MOMO, & the G25. I've read a lot problems about the pedals on them and it looks like the G25 is the best of all(no wonder it's price is so steep). Now, I don't want to pay $100+ on a wheel to find that I would have preferred to pay more for the better wheel, so I've been considering buying the G25.
There's this store close to where I live that is selling it for $244 but I still think it's a bit high(I know that it's worth it though). If I could find a way to lower the price or a credit card discount for sales over $XX that can lower it's price to $200 I might take the plunge.
So if anyone who reads this blog and knows of a way for me to be able to make it a bit cheaper please reply.

Oh, I also was able to ALMOST finish my 3rd race. I didn't have problems controlling the car but my connection decided to disconnect when I had cleared about 2/3 of it. It was enjoyable while it lasted though and I hope to be able to finish the next one.

If you don't mind using Ebay. You could get a pretty good deal there.

Of all those wheels you bring up, I would only recommend the G25. I guarantee, if you do any significant sim-racing, you will have to replace a lesser wheel within a year so the cost will be the same. Shop around, you will find them as low as $225 USD

Listen to Tim, if you can scrape up the money, the G25 is a great buy.

I must say though, my Momo (black) is still going strong. I already had it for a while when I 1st joined the original TMcArthur.net back in late 2005! That's over 3 years of constant use (pretty much almost on a daily basis).

But It's taken a lot of maintenance and mods to keep it working properly.

I'm still waiting for this thing to go terminal so I can get a G25, but looks like I'll be using it for a few more years! Maybe Logitech can use it for an add campaign to show how "durable" the Momo is! haha
