Why Americans should NEVER try poetry
06:10 AM on Dec 16, 2006

I listen to a radio while I'm working so I'm bombarded by radio adds. There is a new batch by the diamond industry that has some deep voiced slightly British sounding guy reading old bits of Keets and Lord Byron. I'm pretty sure I was supposed to study stuff like this in High School, but the only English author I had time for in those days was JRR Tolkien.

Anyhow there was one commercial that said love was like being a butterfly, that because butterflys only live for 3 days the poet said he would cram more love into 3 days than in 50 years.

Well I thought that sounded great so I figured I'd try it on the Missus....pararphrasing now...here is how it went...

"Honey I wish we were Butterflys, cuz then, if we didnt' get eaten by birds first, I'd only have to put up with you for 3 days...and since we probably wouldn't meet right away, then it would be only two or two and half days tops...SWOOSH! heavy object flying by my head

Women! they just don't understand AMORE!
