I own the 1/18th scale C5R Corvette Dale Earnhardt raced version from the Rolex24 in 2001. Looks pretty beat up!

Cool site.
I've got this one sitting on the shelf:
1970 Gulf Porsche 917K

Except mine is the 1/18th scale version of the #2 car, the '70 24hr Daytona winner driven by Pedro Rodriguez and Leo Kinnunen.

PS: tell your friend that the caption on that page is wrong, Jackie Oliver didn't win with Pedro Rodriguez until 1971. 70 was Rodriguez and Kinnunen. :P Sorry, anal Porsche freak here.

I went through a phase of collecting 18th scale die cast models, mainly F1 cars but also have sport cars and rally cars. I own best part of 30 odd cars. However that phase has passed and now I'm stuck with 30 odd cars 18th scale still in their boxes which takes up a hell of a lot of room in my attic. My personally signed Juan Pablo Montoya Williams F1 car and my '94 Senna Williams are my favourites.

I would advise if your going to collect these go for smaller cars than 18th scale.

My prize Schumacher F1 piece is a 1/18 scale of his 1992 Bennetton by Minichamps, very detailed with removable suspension cover and rear bonnet, real rubber tires etc. I also have his 1993 Bennetton, Alesi 1993 Ferrari, and the next few years Schumacher Ferrari F1, all in 1/18. I also own Nigel Mansell's rookie IndyCar in 1/24. And Al Unser Jr's Dracula IndyCar from 2002 1/18. Tony Stewart rookie Winston Cup car in 1/24. I have many Tony Stewart cars, the Habitat For Humanity car 1/24 is VERY COOL. These are just the ones off the top of my head. I never really unpacked them when we moved into a new house a couple of years ago. Still in boxes. But the raced version of the Earnhardt C5R is what people really checked out when they were all displayed. You guys got me to thinking about getting them out to be appreciated once again.
