The more I race here on R2P the more I want to do only Enduro races. I'm not the fastest, but put me in a car over 2 hours plus and I seem to be pretty consistent. Probably an age thing!! That's why all retired F1 drivers end up doing Enduro events (off top of head, Wendlinger, Salo, Sarrazin were at Spa 24 Hours this weekend for example). That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!! Will try to add a screenshot from the Spa 3 hours race to the Blog page if I can. It started damp, turned to heavy rain, and as a result the sky was pretty dark for over 2 hours. Fantastic event - EDIT - image added. End of lap 17, hard slicks on but should have headed for Pits - 3 seconds later I (Ferrari 360 GTC) span whilst aquaplaning in a straight line in 3rd gear! Fellow Phoenix Racing team member Chris Galloway went for the pits but slid on entry - it really was that bad!! I eventually came home 4th in Class and 13th overall. Dynamic weather patch was used on the server for this GTR2 race. Perhaps we need an Enduro 3Hrs Championship? Tracks that could be used - Sepang, Spa, Zuhai, Hockenheim? Trying to think of tracks that hold Enduro races here. |
Don't forget the "old" F1 drivers Villeneuve, Klien, Gene, Panis, McNish, Lammers, Verstappen and I will probably forget to mention more drivers. But your Idea of having an enduro series would be a lot of fun, and it might even get me as far as signing up for an upgraded R2P account. | ||
Despite my just having returned from vaca, and having left my brain on the plane, I love endurance races. A 3hr race (with mix weather to boot) is an incredible challange. I agree this was a fantastic event, hope more will follow always with changing weather/changing light etc. | ||
Another track that holds an endurance event in real life is Silverstone. Saw a European Le Mans Race there a few years ago, finishing as the sun set! | ||
Doesn't Zolder have endurance races too? |
