it seems that i am a good writer because that is what i have been told by my peers and teachers. so here it goes. the one thing in my mind reared its ugly head yesterday at about 11:02 PM as the unthinkable happened. I was sitting down to watch baseball tonight to catch up on all of my baseball needs(i was at the cubs game go white sox though)when a breaking news update flashed across my screen and sportscenter began. those words ripped through me like a knife through a premium steak."Brett Favre has been traded to the New York Jets". as a die hard Green Bay Packers fan growing up in Chicago i had studied this saga such as a biologist studies bacteria reproducing through a microscope. Brett Favre is one of my idols and his accomplishments give me hope where all hope was lost. When this saga began unfolding I thought well the packers are going to ask him to play why wouldn't they. as the packers began denying his wishes more and more this feeling kept rising and lurching in the pit of my stomach. if Brett Favre has an itch to play Ted Thompson or Mike Mcarthy better be able to scratch it. but they didnt, and all that was left to do was wonder, wait and follow this epic tragedy until its closure. Brett Favre is 39 years old and is just coming off one of his best seasons in his hall-of-fame career and the packers didn't want him. So it was decided that once Brett Favre was reinstated he would be released or traded. but, Brett Favre still needed to be reinstated by Roger Goodell. This took days and finally Brett Favre was reinstated and a few days later he was in green bay to the delight of packers fans who still had hope. Brett wanted a trade anywhere but the packers organization wanted him out of the division. they had already filed tampering charges against the Minnesota Vikings for talking to Brett Favre. It was agreed that Brett Favre would be traded to either Tampa Bay or the New York Jets. Once the news was broke i simply lay there almost to tears watching everybody's commentary from Chris Mortensen to Trent Dilfer. Once the Packers released they're statement i truly felt that it was sincere and i just lye there in awe sick to my stomach. Shut Down corner Charles Woodson said it best only hours before the trade "Green Bay doesn't want Brett Favre and Brett Favre doesnt want Green Bay." How long it will take for the wounds to heal between Green Bay and Brett Favre only time will tell. Likewise, how long it will take current Packers QB Aaron Rodgers to be a dominant QB and get past this ordeal(he looks really good in training camp.)only time will tell. thank you for reading this and feel free to leave a comment if you please. thank you. |
Good writers use paragraphs ;) As a Packer-hater, I've actually enjoyed watching Favre over the years and am glad to hear that he still has the fire within him to continue. However, going to the Jets...I don't know about that. They're a team with a lot of holes on both sides of the ball and Favre needs a good supporting cast in order to even reach the playoffs...ESPECIALLY in the AFC and in the same division as the Patriots. Out of all the possible places, the Vikings would have probably been the best place for him. Every good QB needs a good RB behind him to ease the pressure, and given Brett's age, that's essential. He had that in Green Bay with Ryan Grant. The Vikings have that in Adrian Peterson. Tampa Bay has a decent runner in Cadillac Williams, but the Jets don't have anything...except maybe Thomas Jones. Favre's not going to have it easy in NY but it should be an interesting season nonetheless. Good luck to him... As for the Packers, you guys have a good QB in Rodgers. He showed that against the Cowgirls last season where he played a decent game after Brett got injured. Be patient with him and he'll turn out to be a solid QB and leader.
Just a comment on your writing... You do a great job of including examples such as the "words ripped through me like a knife through a premium steak".
However, you might want to work on punctuation a bit. I find myself having to re-read a couple sentences as you try to put too much in one sentence, and it seems like everything runs together. Use comma's when you need to. It certainly helps me a lot. I've discovered that good punctuation/grammar/sentence structure can go a long way. People will take you more seriously, and you'll get your points across more clearly.
That's why I'm so slow... I don't use enough commas! haha Watch your six Andrew, I'll be in your mirrors!!! Dan |
