Season 9 will be drawing to a close in September and we're already at work on Season 10 to kick off the beginning of October. We won't glaze you over with the epic listings of events at this point, but tease you with some of tasty tidbits we have cooking: World Championships of Online Racing Of course, Season 9 marks the third and final season of qualifiers for the 2008 World Championships of Online Racing presented by the National Auto Sport Association. The playoffs for each racing discipline will be run across multiple sims - in fact the "equipment" of modern sim racing - in a format designed to find the Mario Andrettis of online racing: Those drivers who can jump into a diversity of equipment and excel. The weeknight stack Three to four events each weeknight stacked one after the other on the hour ... for both European and U.S. time zones! Something to like for everyone in a format the won't kill off the whole evening. Or go ahead and kill off the evening: Run them all back-to-back. Race2Play[Pro] Just as we added Race2Play[Novice] a couple seasons ago, we're adding Race2Play[Pro] to the mix now. Drivers capable of reaching the upper Rankings here at Race2Play are assumed to have a certain level of experience and consistency on track, and the select series designated [Pro] will address that with advanced rule sets and tighter expectations. Certain exceptions to the Rank restriction may be made for drivers who have an exceptional record of clean and orderly racing. But wait, there's more! We don't want to spill it all at once, do we? More as Season 10 draws nearer :-) Todd. |
I hate teasing:) Tell us everything or nothing!
What will the Pro rank limit be?
I really feel the 6 rank for novice is way too high.
Most 6 rank drivers have a good chance at winning outright in any open competition and just gives these guys a cherry picking romp over us "real" novices (speed challenged in my case).
Dan
That will be adjusted as well, Dan.
The ranking restrictions for [Pro] and [Novice] probably will meet somewhere near the middle, with the events overlapping time slots so drivers restricted from one still have an option to their own in the other.
Also keep in mind the [Pro] and [Novice] events will make up just a few chosen series, and the vast majority of racing still will fall under what I guess could be termed Race2Play[Open].
Agree with Dan. I stopped racing in F2, GTN and Fabcar this season after the 1st race for the reasons Dan mentioned. The rank restriction isn't grouping the right skill level drivers into these series.
I recommend not using high performance cars for novice events. I would think it would be more appropriate to use lower performance/more forgiving cars like Mini Coopers from Race07 or FBMW for novice events. The F1 cars, 600 HP GTs and prototypes are clearly luring the more skilled drivers into these series.
Todd and Tim...
A few of us guys only race ind. races here and a few R2P events but our Rank does not justify where we should be ranked...What about guys like myself?
Bryce, the only answer I have for that is to race in some Official events. Some Ind Chapters are labeled as Official as well.
Well, what suggestions do you have, Bryce? I fully understand the problem you are illlustrating, but there are really no options unless we were to make all independent events ranked, which they shouldn't be, IMO.
