Grid steering

Anyone try Grid from Codemasters? I had it on my computer for 1 a couple of days but couldn't get the steering to work properly. There is a delay in response that just aggravates the sh*t out of me. I tried lowering the graphics quality - no change. The game runs fine but the steering sucks.
Any suggestions. BTW Dirt gave me the same problem. Toca Driver 2 & 3 from Codemasters ran perfectly as did Colin McCrae's titles.

I installed grid, and then uninstalled it after 2 races. What a bunch of crap. If codemasters calls ANY part of that game a sim, then I won't even bother picking up their F1 sim at all.

But as for your problem Mike, do you experience a kind of "slow" cursor ? when you drag the cursor, does it react slow as well?

AT first it did. I changed the resolution to 800x600 & lowered the bells & whistles to nothing but that still didn't help the reaction time of the wheel. It's always a few milliseconds off - which means a lot when you're racing into a corner at 100mph. I played with the settings, tried some off the net but nothing worked. Dirt was the same thing. I also tried with a gamepad though, it was a bit better but not enough to finish the game. Graphics are real nice & some tracks seem fun but if you can't drive, its useless.

Your controller isn't plugged into a USB hub is it?

Into a USB on the main computer. Why?

A hub can occasionally slow down a device.
Alright, hm... that's a strange problem...

Does this sort of lag show up in the control panel when you turn the wheel/push buttons?

Not at all. Seems like its not getting the signal fast enough or not processing it fast enough. Bit of a bugger cuz this new Fuel game coming out next year looks interesting but since its also from Codemasters, chances are the steering for me personally will suck. Maybe its just my system?

try updating the driver for your wheel.

Thanks Kurt but I did that & it didn't help. I used the Logitech profiler also but nothing helped. It'd be nice to get it working but I've got way too much interest in sim racing now to almost bother. 95% spare time I have on the computer is spent on racing - gotta love it :0)
