At the Park

Took the day off and brought the kids to Lake Compounce amusement park here in Connecticut yesterday.

Lake Compounce is the country's oldest continuously operating amusement park, tracing back to 1846.

The park fell on some hard times in the '80s, went through a series of owners, and nearly closed its doors for good. It finally made it into the hands of the right ownership (in part through a sweet deal sponsored by the state), and has been on the road to recovery ever since. It looks pretty good now.

The white coaster, the "Wildcat", dates to 1927. This newer coaster, "BoulderDash", loops in and out of the woods on the hillside, and is very cool.

The Enterprise, below. As I get older, being spun in circles is beginning to lose its attraction for me, but I still like this one :)

Obligatory racing content: Hutch is a wolf among sheep in the bumpercars :)

My youngest, Alexis, toughing it out in the middle of the pack:

My oldest, Kaetlin, little miss Attitude:

A swinging time had by all!

Looks like you and the family had a great time Hutch.

I am lucky I can still handle the spinning. I can get the kids to puke in the spinning spider thing there. I haven't visited Lake Compounce yet this year. Time is running out. I better hurry.

OK, Hutch, how many little kids did you take out driving the bumper car?

Seems way fun. I am not really scared of coasters but I once tried that free fall thing in Italy's Gardaland... And it's not to be repeated lol :) Didn't puke at least.

Gone through this one, really cool:

And my nemesis ride lol:

(not my videos)

Enjoy those fun days with your young kids MK, soon they'll be embarrased to be seen with you ;p

I love roller coasters and thrill rides of any sort. Six Flags Magic Mtn in Los Angeles the greatest collection of rides on the planet! I've gotta get there again soon...

Favorite rides ever.... the Desperado, on the California-Nevada border, in 110 degree heat after driving for 5 hours in air conditioned comfort. And the Big Shot on the top of the Stratosphere in Las Vegas later that night...beautiful!
