I'll be visiting Daytona for the Rolex 24 hour race this January. The last time I went, I saw the Earnhardt's in the Vette's and one of the last race's Dale Sr competed in. The shear speed of those cars on the banking and the combined noise of a sports car kept my juices peaked till I could get back there. If you never been to this historic race, get down there. It's a blast. Lets meet and have brew or 2. |
Check out garra-fans.com, that's the GA site/forum that old TPTCC-er Tommy Brolsma runs.
I'm actually planning to go in 2008. My mom lives about an hour away from the track. This is obviously cheaper to attend than LeMans. Although, the butt-ugly DP cars don't do a fucking thing for me.
9 days till Fla sun and fun. Looks like Friday will be spent watching the 3 hour grand am race and then a good meal and a few cocktails.
I just discovered that a friend of mine in my local Lions Club is Scott Maxwell's father- he'll be running in a Koni Series Mustang. Just read this morning that he set the fastest time in his class at the 3-day testing early this month. I'm hoping they'll come to Limerock again this year, as I'm not going to make it to Daytona any time soon.
I love these cars and the racing. In person they look great! I had the opertunity to see the Daytona Prototypes at California Speedway a couple years ago in fact my avatar is one of the photos we (me and my bro) took. They're great looking cars in person and the racing is fantastic and competetitive. Barry
Although I dont' love the GA cars, they are pretty neat. I was at Rolex24 last year and it was great fun. Of course I did have a pit pass so that helped... saw Milka, Tony, Danica, etc. Talked with Derek Bell...he still owes me money, lol. Man, the Pontiac GTO's were the loudest cars there. Wish I could go this year. Makes driving at Daytona in the sim's even more fun.
Hey guys. The races were great. The Friday race had 104 entrances!!!!! It was a 3 hour race and it was busy. Lots of action and some great racing. The mustangs ruled the day with a couple M 3's right behind.
