As most of you know, I was very hard to convince to buy rFactor. But in the end of June 2006 I finally bit the bullet and ordered it up. My how my perspectives changed. Now I almost can't go back to GTR and GTL. With the F1 1979 Mod Demo and with the Prototype C mod being converted, I don't think I'll need another racing game for years. I have been looking into a multiclass series for rFactor, looking into cars already mad for rFactor by other people that match up well with minimum mods needing to be made. I'm so happy I bought rFactor now, I dunno how I ever lived without it. |
I told you so.... :) | ||
I used to play rFactor all the time, and I really enjoyed driving it but the problem I have is simply that I am such a bad driver that I can complete only one or two laps with damage set at 100%. I am not sure why, but I can run in GTR for a whole race distance without any damage, but cannot drive rFactor more than a few laps now without banging something. Tom
I'm with Banta. When rFactor first came out, I didn't like it at all. My biggest criticism was the wobbly feel of the cars, it didn't feel connected like GTR. With the last few patches, the Forcefeedback has been greatly improved, and all the extra features added in by ISI has just made rFactor light years ahead of GTR. Once you slow to a speed where downforce doesn't apply, GTR feels lacking when compared with GTL or rFactor, and the killer of it all is the netcode. I put up with GTR netcode. In contrast, I want to have sex with the rFactor netcode. ;) In fact, now its the exact opposite, I drive GTR sparingly, only enough to practice for the enduros, I find if I drive GTR too long a stint, I develop bad habits that slow me down in rFactor and GTL, while with GTL and rFactor, i can turn laps for hours.
The King is being released on Sep 15th. :P I think rF is good, but to be great it needs few things. It needs killer mod (haven't found any yet, some were close most were miles away and blown out of proportion) and a rain. :) If they don't make Proto C a killer mod, I'm gonna shoot somebody. NAGT should be a killer mod also, and V8 Supercars too. EDIT: Forgot ot add F1 1979 could also be a killer mod, hope it will be. Future of rF looks bright, and I hope it will stay that way.
the king ! not yet,but hell the 79mod is making it a close call,for me you just cant beat the immersion with gtr and from limited tests with gtr2 i do feel gtr2 will be the bench mark,that is unless kunos gets the patch out:-)and netkar reaches its full potential,
My thing with these new games, like GTR2, GTL2, Race, etc... is i dunno if my computer will run them at the frame rates i need. i have to have frame rates over 60 fps for the game to run smooth for me. anything less and it stutters, and just seems slow.
i think its getting close. It has so much to offer and the best thing is ISI is backing this game. With the latest patch it was like an entire new game, I look forward to more updates from ISI and as many mods as my hard drive will handle. The only thing I hope for is more scratch built track being made.
I loved rFactor from the very first moment was out. Compared to GTR, GTL and probably GTR2, its a very good platform for mods and league races. Probably we would not get the GTR2 quality cars and physics, but the multiplayer is solid rock and the little extra features (replay capability, setup shared, grid edition, etc.) makes a huge difference to me. Is strange, but on the ForceFeedback area, I feel totally the opposite than must of you. I feel much more connected on rFactor than on GTR, GTL and GTR2. On the later I feel like I can only turn a bit the steering wheel and I am already at the limit of the splip angle. Probably I have something wrong on the wheel (Momo Racing) and/or the setup configuration, but I dont know what could be. For me, rFactor is the king.
On the force feedback of rFactor, it felt awful in the 1070 version, i felt so unconnected to the car and road. but on 1150, it's great. i have also played with my controller ini file and made some edits and now i'm very happy with my wheel settings. |
