A slow start
02:23 PM on Jan 18, 2007

Well, four years have gone by since I've logged on to a server and competed against fellow sim racers. Four years ago it was my old Formula B series in GPL, tonight it was not too different, with the Advanced Trainers from rFactor.

I would have liked more practice going into the race, but I was fairly familiar with Brands Indy. I decided to simply try for consitency, running a full fuel load for both practice and qualifying. That landed me 11th on the grid of 15 for the race.

Then, the very slow start, I found my grid position after the formation lap and I took too much time checking my controls, as I looked up the start lights were green! Cars flew past and I found myself last into the first turn. No worries, steady as she goes...

And it worked to some extent, seemed to be a lot of off's ahead of me and I cruised by. Up and down a bit through the race, as some faster cars would spin off, then catch up and pass me, overall I was happy though, with an 10th place finish, 1 lap down.

One scary moment as the leaders approached to pass into the 2nd turn, they decided to do it on either side of me, taking me by surprise! The soon to be winner slammed into my rear right corner as he passed, made it byand continued his battle for the lead. No harm done!

Thanks race2play, looking forward to more great racing!
