Group B Rally, What an Awsome Time
11:59 PM on Sep 14, 2006

I recently ordered 3 DVD's from Motorbooks, ans i got two of them on Tuesday: "Too Fast to Race" and "Still Too Fast to Race". Both profile the early to mid 80's Group B rally class, show lots of vintage footage and details about each car. By the end of Group B these cars were insane monsters, 600+ Hp, 2000 Lbs, 0-60 in under 3 seconds on gravel, beast. And if the cars were crazy fast, the crowds were worst. People were standing in the middle of the road snapping pictures only to JUMP out of the way at the very last minute. Finally have a bunch of fatal accidents, both driver and spectator, the FIA banned the class in 1986. Even though modern rally cars a faster on the stages than the old Group B cars, they just don't seem as exciting. I couldn't imagen how fast a modern car built to Group B rules would be, but I sure would like to see it done. It would be a religious experence to both see it and drive the car.

Man the 80's was the greatest time in racing history Period.
