The Joy of Moving
04:13 AM on Feb 14, 2007

Well, as of this passed Sunday, i have moved from home and now share an apartment with my brother. Of course moving in the middle of the semester really sucks, especially the weekend before a big differental equations test. Any way, it was a very strange feeling spending my last night in the room i had called mine for the last 19.5 years (since i was 4 years old). but i also felt like i was getting out of a rut. everyday our apartment feels a little more like home as we put up our pictures and setup everything.

Of course the move didn't go super smooth, especially when dealing with the cable company (god i hate it too). but thats another blog/rant.

I hope to have some pictures of my place up soon, when i finally get the place all put away.

I remember moving out also, my parents already moved to a new house and I was waiting to close on my first one, the best thing is being young and moving, i did it all in my pick-up truck in 1 shot. I moved 5 years later with my wife to a bigger house and I needed 38-foot semi and 4 movers :(

I moved my business once...it took 3-weeks and about 20 fully loaded semi's, low boys and 2 machinery movers.

Good luck with the new pad...just don't make the improvements that the next guy who come in and says...what the hell was he thinking :P

Ahhhh, the pleasures of having a date over and not having to take her home @ 4.00 a.m.

I remember moving out, but it wasn't a big deal because I was still only about 5 minutes away from my parents' house.

The move that got my mom crying was when the recruiter came to pick me up to get me started on my path into the military. :P

Been thinking and planing about moving out for a while now....I would really like to get out of my house by next fall. I want to move closer to my college and possibly share the rent with some of my long time friends dating back to kindergarten, and they're party animals so that would be interesting, lol. Problem is, if I choose a house/apartment closer to the beach, I would go bankrupt in the first few months due to the ridiculous prices around here, but if I move closer to school, I could probably only afford a place that would be in the ghetto and even those are expensive :P.

I'll probably join the military so that'll ease up some things, pricewise....especially college. Personally, I would just like to get out of California and move somewhere rural to get away from all the rich snobs around here :P.

Good luck with the move, David :)

Thanks guys, it's been interesting for sure. but after a few days at my new place, it just seem normal now with the except that my dad doesn't show up at night. in truth, i have been on a very long leash since I was 16 because i have always been a "good kid" and a "smart kid". so moving out hasn't really affected my lifestyle as much as those people that had very forceful parents.

Great! Free at last! Of course just from your perents roof...now you will learn about being a slave to rent, utility bills, stocking the fridge, kicking guests out that have stayed to crash for the 2nd night in a row, running out of toilet paper, and my favorite: walking in to the house with your girlfriend when your brother is in the living room watching porn.

Keep us posted.

Welcome to the world of wondering why a gallon of milk costs more than a gallon of gasoline. And the inevitable "toilet paper quality" debate. Pillow soft goodness of Charmin at a premium price? Or bargain basement grade 4 sandpaper generic brand TP from Costco? Of course, you're living with your brother, so that might make the above a moot point, since you are both accustomed to the same quality of TP.

:D

I'm not kidding about the TP. 4 years of college roommates taught me no two butts like the same brand of TP. :P
