I'm trying to seperate my performance as a driver from the performance of my setup. As such I've been trying to use the AI for testing my setups. It's not a perfect method, but I think it will help a little, and will help more if I can get MoTeC data acquisition working for the AI. What I've tried is driving 1 lap and then pitting and selected the second driver...who gets controlled by the AI. Unfortunately, MoTeC logging stops after I select the 2nd driver. Does anyone know how to get MoTeC logging for the AI? Well...I looked in the PLR file and saw that I could select the Starting Driver to be the #2 driver which is controlled by the AI. So, now I don't even have to drive in order to test setups...at least things like suspension and camber which are mostly independent of driver style. I just let the AI drive about 6 laps and see what happens when I make adjustments. So far I've determined that the softest springs result in the best grip, but that's what all the setup guides saw as well. I also found that some extra positive rear toe helps out. I've got the AI running over 1/2 a second faster, but it would help if I can compare MoTeC data. After tweaking my gears a bit I took over from the AI and ran a 1:22.444. The weird thing is that the car feels a lot more stable and all I did was add positive rear toe, lower the springs, raise the ride height (MoTeC said it was hitting the track with lowest springs), and select a numerically larger 2nd and 3rd gear. I highly recommend turning control over to the AI when tweaking things like tires, toe, springs, dampers, anti-sway bars, wing, splitter, etc. But, certainly gears, differential, and brakes must be adjusted for feel since the AI takes things too easy for them to make any difference. Hmmm....now that I've been playing with the AI and just recording the lap times perhaps it's not so important now that I get MoTeC logging for the AI; but, if anyone has a clue let me know...thx |
