Damn PC Crashing and DNFs
01:53 AM on Mar 04, 2007

Well I had 3 dnf's this weekend and 2 of them down to my pc crashing. The latest crash in the dubai 400K. A 2 and a half hour race and my pc decides to hang at the 2 hour 25 minute mark! FFS give me that extra 5 minutes!!!

Crashes seem to coincide with an extra 1 gb of ram i put in my pc. This was expensive PC8000 memory too, so not sure what the problem is. I run a E6600 which I overclock to 3.5ghz with a 8800GTX. The extra ram probably took the temps over the edge a bit. I have slowed the ram down and took the CPU speed down to 3.35ghz. This has allowed me to drop 0.3 volts out of the cpu, which lets it run cooler. Hope this lets me complete some races and build my now crappy rank back up again!!

Good to see you maybe found the solution to this. I already searched for some motivationtrainings for you m8 but it looks they won't be necessary. :-)

Try switching your mem modules around or even shifting them to adjacent slots(locate to maintain DDR configuration).

You can also try running with just one module(or a pair if 4 modules used) to see if the problem goes away. Not clear if you have all mem slots full(4?).

You mention you added an extra GB of ram, is it the same as your existing memory? If not, this may cause stability problems.

Hope you figure this thing out soon, It's a real drag to get knocked out of a race like that.

Yeah Dan they are exactly the same manufacturer and model OCZ 1GB DDR2 1000 PC8000 Titanium Alpha VX2. Well I hope the changes I have made will bring some luck!
