GTR2-PD

I can't get this to work and I am absolutely sure it's only something simple, can you help?

I have got Ati X1900XTX and Matrox TripleHead2Go displaying on 3 LCD monitors, so I can't use another monitor to display GTR2-PD, but I do have another PC and they are both connected to my Router.

I have had a workgroup set up between the 2 machines for awhile and regularly swap info etc between them.

But I can't get GTR2-PD to work on the second PC, it says Connecting at the top left and Scanning top centre.

On the first pc (where GTR 2 is running) under "Connection" you should have selected SERVER and on the second pc CLIENT (plus the IP-adress of your first pc. That config works fine here. Btw ... I still use version 4.03 cos the Beta-5 had some bugs in it. Hope this helps.

Thanks George.

I think Norton might be the problem it just popped up a message saying that GTR2-PD is a virus?

It's probably the firewall that reacts to the incomming connection from the 2nd pc. You just can accept that one and make a line for it.

When I click on Client on the second PC a box opens for me to enter the IP.

I type in my IP then I get the message "The IP address is not valid should be in the form xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where xxx is a number value from 000 to255"

Problem is my Ip has single and double figures as well as triple??

It now says connected on both PCs but the second PC says GTR2 Not Running is is not displaying data

Have you tried 001 for the figure 1? 068 for you double figures?

I used to fly Falcon4 many moons ago and that never used to accept single digits either and the above method is how we got round the problem.

Try assigning a static IP address to each of the computers on your router. I assume your using one. It might just be looking in the wrong place each time. And make sure the ports are enabled for each game.

Go to portforward.com for really easy instructions on any router.

I had some funny issues when I first was getting networked gtr pd working, part of it is the horrible textbox that has an almost unusable mask. I discovered that specifying the ipadress in the ini file that reside in same folder (or is created when not present) is the easiest way of getting past this annoyance:

GTR2 PD.ini
[Opcions]
PosFormX=-60
PosFormY=-60
Versio=1.1.0.0
Unitats=Metric
Idioma=English
ScanTime=150
TipusConexio=1
IP=192.168.000.002
Port=1001
NoGrafics=False
DadesServ=True
[MaxMin]
MaxPneu=100
MinPneu=80
MaxMotor=100
MinMotor=90
MaxPress=220
MinPress=180
MaxFrens=600
MinFrens=300

PM me if you have further issues, i can help.

I contacted the author for this same issue, the solution is for example if your IP is 10.1.1.1, enter the IP as 010.001.001.001 worked like a charm for me.

Thanks very much for your help guys.

After trying out your suggestions I was still having no joy so I took a break and powered everything down.

When I came back to have another go everything was working fine!!. So one or a combination of all of the things you suggested must have fixed it and windows sorted itself out after a reboot

So thanks again for your help. Now if you would like to move along Gentlemen to my "Which AntiVirus" Blog you can give me your views on that subject ;-)
