Roll your own ... events
Dec 06, 2011

A glimpse at what's coming in the very near future ...

Race2Play is opening its platform to the independent creation of events. Members will be able to create standalone events, championship series and even leagues directly into the Race2Play system. Everything you need for racing: the scheduling, the servers, the drivers, the forums and stats and screenshots ... all at the click of a mouse.

So if you simply want a single event of V8 Supercars at Monte Carlo or a whole series of freaky races in the newly formed Weird-Ass Supercars League, you'll be able to make it so. Yeah, and you'll be able to do more traditional stuff, too, I suppose.

Pricing will be based on membership level.

Todd.

I've always thought of having a one day event with my choice of cars and track. Would have to be open wheel of course!!!
Maybe Canadian drivers vs. US drivers,or Cdn vs. Brazil, even Cdn vs. The World.

I think I understand what you are asking Doug. Creating an Event outside of a League means the Event would be open to the entire R2P membership. Creating or using a League (Chapter) and creating a Series or Event under that League would some 'privacy' controls by way of League membership.

So you will have options depending on what you are trying to accomplish.

About this; "Creating multiple single events will result in multiple events not tied together by any points structure or championship. "

Could this be in a Private League (aka. Chapter) as well. Like our own SPECIAL EVENT SERIES similar to R2P's Special Events?

Crystal clear:) Thanks for that clarification, R2P Official.

This is not a replacement for the Independent League program, it *is* the Independent League program... on steroids...

  • Creating your own event is just that; a single "one-off event" or fun-run event. No points, no championship.
  • Creating multiple single events will result in multiple events not tied together by any points structure or championship.
  • A "Series" is a group of similar events tied together under a points championship. A series is open to all Race2Play members.
  • A "League" (aka Chapter) is a group of series, each with their own points, tied together under a single League banner. A League has controls to moderate membership as well as league stats, league forums, etc.

Is this replacing the Independent Chapter aspect?

Will the administrator be able to restrict these races to a fixed setup or open setup? And if you can, how will they be able to enforce it? I assume this is the same idea that iRacing uses for their "Hosted" races. Looking forward to seeing this if the price is right.

That's just great! Looking forward to it, really.

I would guess that it's a *supplement* to the Independent Chapters, not a replacement. If I can't find an IC that's running, say, the Race07 Camaro Cup, I can make my own. That's how I see it. Or as a means of gauging the popularity of a potential series before starting (or submitting it to) an IC.

Not a bad idea, roll your own event then pass it.

Aslong as no one puts the mouse in there pocket it should work out good. :D

Hmm, will this automatically prevent overlapping schedule conflicts? So we'll have less of a need for that pesky Tim character? ;)
