I had a race in PRC-Euro today and did a stupid thing - overestimated my abilities and spinned another car in T1. I believe indirectly it lead a few other drivers to problems too. Can't say it happens often to me. I remember just 2 episodes, includes today's one, out of my 35 events, when I did stupid things (the 2nd one was getting back on track with rear gear in a Rhez race) but still everytime it happens I feel very depressed. Those both episodes doesn't look similar, but I still find them similar. Both times I could avoid those accidents, but my brain was "blocked" by adrenalin and I acted foolishly. Despite my 4+ years of online sim-racing experience, in critical situations I still can't control myself. Not to say I'm deeply depressed, but I feel very uncomfortable after such incidents. Sorry to the victims. |
Dmitry, don't be too hard on yourself. We all make mistakes. 2 in 35 if doing pretty well i think. Turn 1 is always a big time for incedents, since everyone is very close and it's the best chance to make up positions. I see plenty of others with more like 31 to 35 stupidity ratios and even mine is higher than yours. It happens :)
Dmitry, your comment "in critical situations I still can't control myself." explains how 95% of the golfers in the world feel. Truth is we can't think our way through everything, even when we are telling ourselves too. The same quick and instinctive reactions that got you into trouble are the same ones that have gotten you out of it numerous times and allowed you to finish successfully. Never any fun taking someone else out of a race, but I can tell you from a guy that has missed his share of 2 foot putts and made a complete disgrace out of his drive on the first tee, it is totally understandable... Thank you for the comments and support, guys. I feel better now. :) Greg, I never played golf and can only guess that a "2 foot put" should be really easy, but I like your analogy :)
I hear you Dmitry.
