Panited car mismatches

Hey fellas...
I want to paint my car for the next season. I believe I saw that I can do this. How do I get this going? As I understand it, I am the only one who will see it, but I want to do it just for kicks anyways.

To paint your own skin go to RSC and read up.

Basically get the template, also available at RSC then paint it up, save as a *.DDS (free photoshop plugin) again instructions on alpha and all that stuff is available with the templates.

After, you name it however the .gtr files names it with in the file. something like this which is for the 2004 #18 Ferrari 575 GTC 04018_FERRARI_F575_BODY1.dds

Then just drop the finished DDS file into the proper team folder. GTR2 will use this file instead of the default as long as it is present.

I have painted a couple cars, but when I join any server online, I am getting a mismatch. I had a "collision or (crash) mismatch" and one other type. I also had a mismatch on a server that allowed them and all the other cars were the gray "box" or "TEMP" vehicles. don't know if mine was viewed by others the same or not.

The cars I have painted appear and work fine in offline play.

I used PHOTOSHOP CS3 and converted my files to DDS format. I made no changes on the options menu for the NVIDIA PHOTOSHOP PLUG IN when saving the file. Does anyone know if I have to work with the file when saving?

Also...Can adding layers and then merging them with the background layer (which is partially locked)on any of the cars cause a mismatch?
Any insights from anyone on this?

Thanks.
DOn

I haven't tried skins online but you could try changing the default format in the DDS options (DXT1 from memory) to DXT5 but I doubt that'll fix it. Highly doubt it's the merging either--DDS export checks for compliance.
