What concerts do you fellas have planned for this year? Or have already attended?
So far my year has just been seeing Meshuggah, finally, back in May, I think it was. I *almost* saw Roger Water's too...but it was back to back with Meshuggah and I just couldn't wing it.
I've got Dethklok, Lamb of God, and Gojira on September 7 (I don't even really like Lamb of God, nor have I listened to Dethklok. I'm only going to see Gojira!)
RUSH has been paid for. That show isn't until December 2nd!
On a side note - I bought tickets to see Louis CK in mid December! Very excited for that
I'm contemplating going see Ian Anderson play Thick as a Brick 1 & 2. That's in October here. I'll decide in a week or two. Has anyone see him/Jethro Tull?

Only 1 word to describe the new RUSH show.....
WOW!
I'm not going get into details because I don't want to ruin it for the guys that are attending at later dates in the tour, but holy cow! You see 60 year old guys up there basically just tearing the place up. They're playing better than they ever have before, and I've seen every tour but one since 1977.
One thing I noticed is just how old us RUSH fans are getting. I saw a guy in the beer line just ahead of me that I knew who he was, but he had no hair which made it difficult to tell. So I had to ask, and it was who I thought it was. 1st thing he says to me is how old and bald I got!
Then on our way back to the car after the show, a couple of dudes from the hood were selling bootleg t-shirts, and this guy comes up to me and goes "cmon now, I got a 2X shirt for ya right here!"... I said "2X?!"
Man, that hurt.

AH HELL. Paul McCartney is playing Houston on a little short stint for his On The Run Tour.
Needless to say, I had to buy a ticket.

Yeah he's a bastard, isn't it he! Honestly, I got to that show the other night, and there was a notice that Paradise Lost weren't performing. I was beyond bummed about that.
So I watched the fill-in band, Stolen Babies, who were quite odd. Anyway, Katatonia came in afterward, thank God.
They were great! But at that point it was 10.30 on a work day, and I am not that into Devin Townsend by himself, so I left before he even came on stage lol
I only really wanted to see PL and Katatonia, so I was happy with just Katatonia. I tweeted Nick Holmes, and he replied saying sorry. He had some kinda throat infection thing. Nice guy though!

Devin Townsend!!! that f'ker.. I would so much prefer if he got back to Strapping young lad and made oldschool heavy devy metal! god i miss that band.
How is he live anyway with this DTprojetct?

Honestly still unsure myself, Ryan. Visiting my girlfriend abroad in Europe not once but twice so far this year has wrecked my wallet.

Bah, I wasn't sure if you were going to Austin or not! See you there amigo.
Hard telling with Roger Waters, they always did dump a billion dollars into their live shows. I wish I would have gone to that though. Maybe Gilmour will swing by.

Saw Roger Waters perform The Wall in July, and last night I caught Dave Matthews Band for the second time... not as thrilling as the first, Dave chose a very mellow setlist.
Roger Waters was very good, but not excellent. Too high of a production value made the crowd seem louder than it legitimately was. That was a small buzzkill... when the venue was already sold out with 45,000 screaming Floyd fans, why add crowd noise? I guess it was part of the album...?
My next concert is in Texas. The US GP :-D

Just an update - The Gojira concert was unfortunately cancelled awhile back due to Lamb of God's lead singer being imprisoned in the Czech Republic. He's been released recently, but they've rescheduled the tour with different bands. So - that sucks. Gojira did a solo tour but they did not come around here.
On a happy note, I splurged and bought a pretty good seat to The Who! It's unfortunately up in Tulsa (closest to me), but I have no clue if these old codgers are going to do another tour after this one... So I wanted to see them before it was too late. That's not until Valentines Day 2013! So I'll have to work out the logistics. I thought of going up to the Toronto show and visit a friend while I was at it, but it was just too expensive altogether, and too soon.
I'm going to see Katatonia, Devin Townsend, and Paradise Lost tomorrow night. Should be a cool show!

Charlie, just stop. Stop. Lol - I'm gonna stop talking to you due to the jealousy :P

I’m sure you will have fun Ryan. My first ever concert was Alice Cooper, the “Killer” concert. I thought nothing could top that until a few months later I saw Pink Floyd doing their “Dark side of the moon” tour. A whole different experience. But my all time favorite is still Humble Pie’s farewell tour with Foghat opening up for them. I couldn’t hear anything for a month after that concert!

Damn Charlie! Jethro Tull back in '74 and '76, I'm very jealous :P
I'm sure Ian's just as good now. We'll see. I bought two tickets. Hopefully my friend who is a big fan can come with me!
Bob - I don't even really care what RUSH play. It's all great :-D I got decent seats I guess. it's down on the lower level seating, but not floor. It's at Toyota Center. I saw The Cure there once, but those were floor seats.
Floor seats at an arena are a joke really. They should just be GA on the floor.

I saw Jethro Tull in 1974 & 76. Great concerts! But after 35 years, things might have changed. Just saw REO Speedwagon at the local Indian casino and it was a sad sight to see a guy in his 60's on stage wearing spandex.

@Ryan
It's time to start wishing for what you want to hear on the setlist for the upcoming RUSH show.
For me, I'd like to see and hear the full set of The Fountain Of Lamneth from 1975's Caress Of Steel. Alex Lifeson has mentioned it a few times in a couple of interviews now.
Or the full "Fear" set, which spans almost every decade they have been in existence...
