Presently I have got Athlon Fx55 (Socket 939 so could put in here if a better chip) 7600GT AGP machine, with Corsair memory. Obviously could mix and match with present bits to enhance the above. Is it worth paying the £350 to make the move to PCI-e, as that is a pretty good card from what I know. |
More info :- 1. The ram is currently DDR 333 which isnt the fastest but I have never seen any faults in it unless running benchmarks. It is currently in 3x 512mb and is running in single channel though I have had it running with the 2x 512mb in dual channel and only ever noticed slight increases in benchmarks. 2. The CPU you currently have from my knowledge is far superior and will / should drop straight into this board. Which would be a great complement to the graphics processor. 3. Im pretty sure the motherboard has another 2x SATA ports and 1x IDE port free and the case has a separate quick release section for storage harddrives so there shouldn't be any problem in adding to the storage. 4. The operating system currently running on it is my own Windows XP Pro Corporate edition but the original disk was damaged, It never bothered me because I had a version that I winLited to include the SATA Raid drivers and have always used that. I will leave the O/S on there for anyone as to my knowledge its licienced for multiple machines but I didnt want to garrenty anything so the machine was advertised without.
Probably around two years old... if you ignore the games (if even if you didn't), it's by far overpriced. I think you'd get all parts new for a cheaper price, and you wouldn't see much of an improvement, possibly apart from the video card. If you just want to improve on your current machine, a new video card like radeon x1950 pro would be good and not too expensive.
Think if I do go for it it would be on basis of putting together the best of my two machines and selling the remainder, which would make it a fairly cheap upgrade. Shall see. |
