First Race

Well, that didn't go very well.

My apologies to anyone (well, that would be everyone) who came upon my "moving chicane". I tried to make sure I let people by cleanly.

The start of the race went well for me. Things started going downhill from there. I punctured a tire, so I had to make a pit stop and apparently I forgot to reset the pit stop fuel strategy, go a ended up with a long stop and a full tank. *sigh*

I guess it not that bad, as my goals were

Finish my first race... and I did!

Don't wreck anyone... I don't think I did.

Be competitive... I kinda knew that wasn't going to happen.

I need to practice!

Hehe, I know how it feels Will/Bill (whatever you want to be called). It can be scary when everyone is flying around the track, and you are just doing everything you can to not wreck anyone. As you gain experience, you'll gain confidence in your ability to race side by side with people. I'm still rather knew to this, and still get nervous when I'm around other people. You did fine from what I saw out of ya, and I'm sure with a little bit of time and experience, you'll be right up in the battle with the rest of us.

As a salty old veteran of 9 races I can tell you it gets better and more fun as you get comfortable. I was shaking, I mean really shaking the 1st couple of races here I was so nervous.

I also found if I get on the server early and practice it helps me. You can get the nerves calmed and people join gradually so it lets you get in the flow.

Don't practice too much and get too fast, I need some people in the back with me.
