Ranking issue
12:49 AM on Aug 01, 2007

I'm just a newbie to R2P, but I'd like to propose an idea for consideration regarding rank.

I've competed in just one OW race so far, in which I was fortunate enough to finish 8th out of 17, where 4 other cars were unable to finish. My OW rank is now 5.882, which excludes me from any of the Welcome races (I had been planning ahead and looking forward to fT at Limerock, but was unable to participate due to my rank). I am by no means a top racer, and am consistantly 4-6 seconds off the leaders' pace. In order to compete in any of these events, I would need to sabotage my ranking (or at least race a couple more times in the other series until my real skill is reflected in the ranking).

I propose that one would need to complete 3 races before any rank is awarded to the driver. This would be in addition to the new rolling rank system, which I am also in favor of. I am curious though, how the rolling rank system is going to work. I can see it possible that someone could begin a series, and then quickly find themselves locked out of the series due to changes in rank.
Perhaps it would be best to use one's current rank to determine eligability to initially join a series, but then allow that driver to remain with the series regardless of changes to their rank, until the following season.

Just some thoughts. Feel free to offer some other points.
Thanks.

Thanks Chris.

Actually we are looking to open up the Welcome division rank a bit for various reasons, one of which is your very valid reason. The plan is to implement the change at the beginning of Season 6.
