What to expect? The PT values in the .TBC file are probably a little higher than needed. Expect a much more stable car than with the stock FBMW mod tire values. You can really abuse the curbs without fear now. Lap times are not much different for me. Be aware that grip is not increased. Only the inherent straight-line stability of the tires is affected. Make sure caster is set to zero in the setup menu to get full SAT feedback with nothing added from caster-related mechanical trail. The slip curve for the FBMW's doesn't fall off too much, so you won't feel much of a reduction in SAT at higher slip angles. I think the CCWS mod has a steeper backside to the slip curve. I'll post an updated TBC file for CCWS soon. Also, I'm not sure what's up with the FBMW mod. It doesn't display the same sort of static tire twist as I described in the ECCI discussion. I think I saw that behavior in the CCWS mod. Must be something else wrong in the FBMW front end or tire settings.
Thanks for the effort, I will try it a bit later as I need some sleep now, it's 6 AM here. :D
I just uploaded "ChampCarLola_Tires.zip" to ultraforcesim.com/pub. Unzip it and copy "ChampCarLola_Tires.tbc" to "C:\Program Files\rFactor\GameData\Vehicles\ChampCarLola". The champ car at Neurburg is sublime! The slip curve is a lot more responsive compared to the FBMW's. This CCWS mod really shows what is possible with FFB. For some reason, I'm still not seeing the tire twisting response described in the other thread. Must have been a different mod. I'll keep looking for it.
These are nice. :) | ||
Thanks Enis. Do you find it to be as significant an improvement as I do? In simple terms, one of the best things about these changes is that it makes it much easier to save a car from spinning if it gets a little out of shape. The front wheels want to go in the direction the car is traveling. You can feel it in the steering wheel. The force feedback on the steering wheel actually helps steer the car in the direction of travel. It makes slight corrections very intuitive and more *realistic*. I'd like to get some feedback from non-FFB drivers about the new tire parameters too. You'll definitely notice a difference in how the car drives even without FFB. All you have to do is copy the .TBC tire file into your CCWS /vehicle/ or Formula BMW /vehicle/ directory.
The FFB feel is similar to what I had before, much tweaked effects, but those weren't as connected to what is car actually doing because of the lack of RealFeel and PT.
Thanks Enis, Yes, the 'feel' is not much different, but the feedback should be much different. While driving you can switch back and forth between RealFeel and stock rFactor FFB by hitting the 'G' key. This will disable RealFeel. You can easily and quickly do an A/B comparison. Do you find that the car responds differently than before? How are your lap times affected before and after the .TBC change?
Yes the response of the car and wheel is different. Nicer. I will compare effects with disabling/enabling RealFeel while driving. Haven't done any times comparision, 'cause I drove the cars aroun Hermanos Rodriguez track at which I drove only in DTM mod so far. |
